Supply House was who I ordered from. No idea if there are cheaper ones out there, but they were less than my local big boxes.

In every large city there will be at least a few large wholesalers who deal with plumbing and heating materials. Just do a Google search or call a plumbing company and inquire as to who supplies their material. They will have better quality finishing fixtures (metal insides rather than plastic). I'm in Canada so I'm not sure if this company is where you live but feel free to Google "Emco" will give you a good idea of what I'm talking about.

What's wrong with a local plumbing shop?

Your local plumbing wholesaler will be more expensive than the big box stores. They sell at low/competitive prices to contractors who will in turn mark up the parts to their customers. If they sold to you for those prices their regular customers would raise an eyebrow at that. As an individual your best bet is to hit the home store, or just order what you need from Amazon.
