Home inspector recommendation? About to buy a home, wondering if you guys had a recommendation for a good inspector! Thanks!

Not sure, but I do know most of them are dirt bags. It’s worth the money to call a reputable plumber, hvac tech, and electrician to come look over the system. It would be a minimal charge for an expert opinion. Home inspectors are a jack of all trades master of none type of deal. Spend the 2-300 and have professionals come take a look, it could save you tens of thousands down the road.

Every time a home inspector says something electrical isn't up to code (especially in an older home) I laugh. Unless they know a) when the house was built, b) what code cycle the house was inspected under, c) if any building permits have been pulled since the house was built, they are usually mistaken. Houses built in the 70's won't pass today's electrical code, and they don't have to. Your realtor will have a home inspector they use, otherwise, do what /u/boopidbake suggested and call licensed electrical, plumbing, and HVAC contractors out. You'll spend more money, but you'll get a more accurate assessment.
We had a good experience with Bridge Home Inspection.

Home Pride Inspections has been great for my transactions. Each inspector handles dozens of inspections weekly and they're thorough. Calling individual tradesmen to come out one by one is unnecessary and they'd likely find the exact same issues as a general inspector. If the condition of the roof and chimney (for example) are really questionable due to age of the house or just by sight, I'd get specialist's opinions. Source: I'm a Realtor. I don't get compensated in any way for recommending them, I've no doubt there are other great companies too.
