Can you recommend a good adult dentist in Highland Park or surrounding area?

Anyone have any PCP/Dentist recommendations? Recently got my own insurance, so I figure I might as well use it. Also discovered that Renaissance drops you as a patient...

I recommend you don't do PCP. Shit will mess you up good.

From what I can tell United is pretty broadly accepted (I still use my UPMC PCP) so I'm not sure this narrows it down very much. UPMC St. Margaret is easily accessible from your location.

If you don't mind trekking over to Oakland, [Alfred Shoukry](http://findadoc.upmc.com/PhysicianBioQuery.aspx?EPCDID=172724&hosp=0) at Montefiore is a great PCP.

I'm a fan of Pittsburgh Dental Spa in Robinson. They're a bit pricey and their commercials are obnoxious, but I'm 100% for being sedated during a root canal.

I don’t know about the insurance, but the wonderful people at Sixth Street Dental downtown are some of the best in the business.

I go twice a year to Dr King at Bittner-King Dental in Fox Chapel. It’s a mother/daughter practice. Very friendly, attentive, and thorough, without being overly harsh. https://bittnerkingdental.com

Know that there is technically no such thing as a specialist in this field since there is no branch of medicine or dentistry that claims TMJ disorders and regulates the safety of treatments or sets standards of care for these conditions.... With that said, have you looked on the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain or the Orofacial Pain Board’s website? Those are the two that will supply you with a list of people that have training in TMJ (but be warned that their training will all vary and no one is regulating what they’re doing with patients). I have been to more than one person on those lists that was a con artist. One of my previous professionals got his dental license revoked for fraud related to TMJ care and he was on one of those professional lists.... Just be very very very careful and always get multiple opinions. It is always best to start with what is reversible before trying anything more invasive that may make your condition worse. Good luck!
