I think you should book a day tour in a travel agency because: First, if you plan to travel by motorbike, driving mortobike yourselves from Hanoi to Ninh Binh and backward are not so prefeable experience, not mention to bad weather and the risk of be cathced by police. Secondly, the language barrier will be a so big obstacle because of unpopularity of English in Ninh Binh. Thirdly, the Ninh Binh day tour price, in my experience, is affordable.
