Can anyone recommend a doctor or clinic that will administer the rabies vaccine and is in the Horizon BC/BS network? My son is heading to Veterinary School and he is...

How about infectious disease doctor? Try this office and ask them 856 866 7466 They maybe can point you in the right direction?

I got mine through the NJAWR (New Jersey Association of Wildlife Rehabilitators). They only offer the clinic once or twice a year at a discounted price. You have to be a member but you can pay the membership fee when you pay for the vaccines. I payed around $250 which is extremely cheap as far as pre-exposed rabies vaccines go. I would look into your son's school, most offer the vaccine through them. My friend went to DelVal and got her pre-exposure vaccine through school. Granted, that's anywhere around $800. It's a series of 3 shots and a titer at the end. Post-exposure is 8 shots with local injections (into wherever the bite/scratch happened). I'm not sure if NJAWR is offering that clinic any time soon or this year, but it wouldn't hurt to give them a call. They're in Mercer County. Your best bet will probably be finding out if the college offers them. You can't get it through CVS, Walgreens, etc. Only the ER will be able to vaccinate you, but that is post-exposure. http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/hcp/vis/vis-statements/rabies.pdf

My son had to go to the er for a series of injections - about 12 years ago. Stine's Apothecary on Rt 38 in Hainesport administers travel vaccines. I imagine Mark Gravenstine has been asked before and might have an answer for you. Stine’s Apothecary 1491 W. Thanks everyone! I'll try the a Infectious Disease docs. I can't go the pharmacy route as Horizon won't pay for pharmacies unless they are a clinic - like CVS Minute Clinic. And CVS doesn't do Rabies
