http://www.chateauchantal.com/ Is a cool place to stop. They play Jazz music at night and you can sit on the patio and see water all around you. Also, on the way up I would recommend stopping in Glen Arbor and eating at the Cherry Republic. It's pretty sweet.

The Old Mission peninsula in Traverse City is absolutely beautiful! There are wineries with gorgeous views and a brewery/restaurant called The Jolly Pumpkin that has incredible food!
