I was diagnosed a few weeks ago with celiac disease, and just got the call today that my 7 year old daughter tested positive. Feeling overwhelmed. Any recommendations...
Pam J. replied:
I also have 2 books about just being diagnosed. Imaceliac.com and go to store
Jeneen P. replied:
We see Dr. Martin Ulshen who is now with UNC (formerly of Duke Children's Hospital). He is fantastic! But if Duke is closer to you, I'd feel very secure with them, too.
Pam J. replied:
I have celiac. Currently testing our 2 yr old twins. Have dq2 not doing blood work. Going to Shannon Morgan at Duke children's find out next week
Ryan E. replied:
Deanna Callaghan Blatchford . I highly recommend a book by Dr Fasano a National Expert on Celiac Disease called Gluten Freedom. The book covers the history of celiac disease, diagnosis, treatment, gluten-sensitivity, gluten-free living and the future of Celiac Diagnosis.
Okay Orlando friends- I need to find a family care doctor or pediatrician. Jack needs to have a polio vaccine redone and I do not want to go to the county health dept.
Ashley D. replied:
She recommends pediatrician - Dr. Joseph Cannizzaro: http://www.pediatricianscareunit.com/
Local ladies I'm looking for a female general practitioner doctor. I want to stay in the apex/Cary/holly springs area. If you've got someone you love please share!
Tamara G. replied:
I go to Dr. Alexander Newman's office and see the PA there, Emily Volk. She's awesome! The office is behind Wake Med Cary.
Courtney T. replied:
Robin I go to Magregor family Physicans and they are wonderful. I see Dr. Anya Marshall!!! Let me know if u want her number!!
Holly B. replied:
Dr. Barrett or Dr. Gausmann at Capital Area OBGYN. I grew up with Dr. Gausmann, and she is wonderful! But Dr. Barrett has been my sisters and my doctor for years.
Dori C. replied:
I like Cary Adult Medicine (Robert Resnik) is the main Dr. there.
Stacey M. replied:
My mom goes to Cary Medical group but I can't remember her drs name....I am about to switch to her after baby...she is fantastic and my mom loves her. I can get her name if you'd like
Georgi M. replied:
I go to Dr Cynthia Young, she was the the doctor who knew my thyroid condition was beyond her expertise and sent me to a specialist. A doctor who is willing to admit they do not know it all is a fantastic one in my book.
Rachel M. replied:
I see Dr. Shoffner at Cary Medical group and love her.
Susie F. replied:
This was helpful for me- I was recommended to Cary family and sports medicine and called last week but couldn't get in until April! Thanks Robin!
Adel K. replied:
Dr Cynthia Young! She is at Western Wake Wellness. Love her!
Any recommendations for a great GP/Primary Care physician in southern Wake County who takes BCBSNC State Health Plan? I'm going on day 10 of my knee injury and it's not...
Susan S. replied:
However, if you really want a G.P., I like Fuquay Family Practice on Judd Parkway. It's not a fancy office but the staff is great and I really like the P.A., Jennifer Atwater. Pretty easy to schedule an appt there too, not like other offices that make you wait a day or two to get in
Susan S. replied:
I think you should go see Dr. Steven Struble, he has an ancillary office right at the Urgent Care in Holly Springs by the Ale House. He is an excellent knee doc, did Lis' knee replacement and I saw him for a consult for my knees. He is very honest and gave me the 411 on my situation, even when it didn't benefit his practice.
David W. replied:
Heart and Hand Family Medicine in Apex. It's a UNC practice. Dr. Springfield is great.
Jennifer W. replied:
Carolina Family Practice and Sports Med in Cary is great since they have the sports med component. I went there for my knee.

Shannon F. replied:
Love Apex Peds...we love Dr. Steele!! The NP is great too
Desiree B. replied:
My friend, Dallas Ellington lives in FV. Her husband is active duty at Bragg, so they were obviously looking for someone who accepted Tricare. She found Holly Springs Pediatrics and Western Wake Pediatrics. They are going with Holly Springs Peds. (I tagged her and she said to feel free to contact her.)
Does anyone have recommendations for a primary care physician in the area?
Colleen G. replied:
Dr Michael Hart at Carolina Sport and family medicine off Main Street on Rosewood Drive. He takes most insurances and is under the duke umbrella. He’s great!
