Not just you having issues! http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews199569.html
You can be signed up through your tenancy agreement, i got stuck with thames water that way with Douglas and Gordon ( I was pissed as they wanted me to pay 6 months in advance for water).
That said if they were the supplier between you moving in and you switching to npower you could owe them for the two weeks. Have they sent a paper bill? You can and should request one with the meter readings on it so you can confirm it (as you are right, that is waaay too much money). Probably based on estimated readings or something.
From the look of the link i gave above, I wouldn't pay then try for a refund, you'd never get it!

I got dumped with Spark energy in my first house in London too whilst paying npower without issue too. I definitely didn't sign up to them but when I spoke to npower they said that they had received a transfer confirmation from Spark to take on the account. I explained that I had not authorised this and npower carried out a reverse takeover (can't remember what they called it but it was something like a hostile takeover?). After 1 more crappy letter from Spark they buggered off and I just paid npower again. I would try calling your power suppliers and see if they can sort it out.

Letting agents are legally not allowed to decide who is supplying services to an apartment. Don't pay them, contact your current supplier and see what they say. Contact your letting agent, keep copies of all correspondence. If Spark don't fuck off tell them you will be contacting the energy ombudsman http://www.ombudsman-services.org/energy.html

I had the same thing when I moved into my current flat a year ago, also something my estate agents did. They told me about it though, apologised and said they had to but explained to me from the get go how to get rid of spark - basically had to write them a clear letter immediately saying I did not want their service while also calling edf to tell them to block the transfer. Good luck with getting this resolved - just wanted to say that it can be done.
So... almost 2 months ago someone backed into my bike and did a pretty good amount of damage on it, not a cheap fix but the person who did it was awesome
b/c they did...
