ADHD psychiatrists in Houston? Hi all,
I’m moving to Houston this spring and was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a psychiatrist. I’ve been diagnosed...

I see Monica Grover at Memorial Park Psychiatry and really like her. I used to use Jia Wang at MW Psychiatry and loved her before a change of insurance forced me to change. I will recommend setting up appointments with either sooner than later. Good psychiatrists are at a premium in Houston and many have long waiting lists before you can get in. Good luck. You might need to find two psychiatrists given Houston drivers.

If you want someone for just medication I would recommend Dr. Peter Ly in Clear Lake. I've never had an appointment last longer than 5 minutes and he's eager to write new prescriptions at every visit
Any recommendations for a GP, dentist or psychiatrist in the Austin area?

Looking for help for Henri? I'd just tell him to suck it up and make more satellites because he could be hand stacking fertilizer at The Home Depot with me.

Dr Lambeth at red river family practice is my GP. He's awesome. Dr Lessner across from double Dave's is my dentist. He's also awesome.

I used to see Dr. Lambeth. I haven't seen him in a while, but I was happy when I saw him. I just decided I wanted to try seeing someone who saw more runners/athletes

I'm not sure about north Houston but if you call MHMRA Houston they might be able to give you a list. They also run their own clinics but you probably need an appointment for those. [Link](http://www.mhmraharris.org/LocationDetails.asp?Category=Adult%20Mental%20Health%20Service%20Locations)

my sister was in Cypress Creek Hospital Cypress Creek Hospital 17750 Cali Dr Houston, TX 77090 I can say I say only the best when I visited her there. She was there for about 10 days, for a psychotic episode. They accept BCBS Pro and BCBS Solutions see their website for more: http://www.cypresscreekhospital.com/admissions/
Heya. I'm still looking myself. Both wpath.org and glma.org have provider directories. Legacy Community services is super lgbtq+ friendly and has gender specialists, but I called them last week and haven't gotten a callback yet. They said 72 business hours; I thought they misspoke but maybe they actually meant 9 days. Ken McLeod does gender stuff; my ins. co. website says he isn't accepting new patients, but I called him and left a message anyway just in case. I've heard iffy things about O'Doherty, but haven't talked to her directly so ymmv. Another good option, if you can find one, is a teletherapist who does skype sessions. Edit: The problem I found w/ psych today is that there are a lot of practices of unknown safety, people who throw keywords at their profile without actual expertise, and little info about insurance. Houston is the kind of place where you have at least some likelihood of finding a conversion kook. If you make a big spreadsheet and a plan, you may be able to crosscheck everything against an insurance provider directory.

Do you need a psychiatrist or therapist? What exactly do you need them for? I have info on one of each that work very well with trans patients that I can fish up for you. There is also the Montrose center that does counseling in house but they have a decent wait time to get matched with a therapist and some of the therapists are idiots... they do a sliding scale so it is good if you are low income or don't have good insurance. If you are just looking for HRT, Legacy Clinic in Montrose offers informed consent without a therapist refferal. Ive heard mixed reviews about the place but again, its good for low income. There is also Hunter Hamill who will provide HRT but I would not recommend him unless you are either really comfortable walking into an OGBY office or you are a vision of feminimity.... i believe older transitioners have enjoyed their experience with him more than younger ones. Dr. Kovaks in the heights is the best IMO. She wants a letter but yoy cam get that in like 2 weeks easy and is way worth it to get to have her treat you. Best doctor I have ever had by far and truly one of the nicest and most understanding people I have ever met. I don't think there are many cis people who truly care about trans people the way Kovaks does. If you have other questions feel free to ask:) Edit: I am just seeing your age. If you feel more comfortable you can PM me your insurance and I can find the info on the doctors/therapists I have and see if they will accept a minor as a patient.
Does anyone know a good Psychiatrists in Houston.. Our doctor takes 2 to 3 hours wait every month... it is a real hassle to keep my son waiting at the office.

Are you looking for a psychiatrist for meds, or are you looking for talk therapy? If it is the latter, check out Frances "Biba" Lee. She does take insurance and is super professional. She once apologized to me for being too "casual" and wearing sandals because she had just come from picking her kids up from school. I don't know. Maybe she had a client who had a weird thing about sandals.
Trez1999 replied:
Just a thought. But how do you know that is what you need? Its possible you may not even need a psychiatrist ... even the most severe cases of anxiety and depression are usually handled by psychologists and once they diagnose they can have a doctor prescribe meds if they need to..something to think about

Like others said, you might be well seeing a psychologist instead of a psychiatrist. I recommend [Dr. Alexandra Burch](http://www.alexandraburchphd.com/welcome.html), off Park Ten. I saw her as private pay for a year and a half. She was great!
