Any recommendations for Lasik surgery here in Houston? There are just so many places, and everywhere has a ton of reviews saying they are great.
Just wondering if...

Did mine at Joffe. It was fine, very quick. Everyone was nice but a little pushy to schedule and then get you to agree to promote them, so that was weird. The place was comfortable and clean and I have no regrets!
You didn’t ask this but I will give a few recommendations that I learned. 1. Take the valium, it’s fun if nothing else. 2. Shower right before you go and wear pajamas because you will NOT want to do anything when you get home. 3. Sleep afterwards like they tell you. I wasn’t able to and I had some pain for a few hours. 4. I still have mild dryness almost 2 years later, it’s not a big deal but I was a little surprised by how long it lasted.
Go for it! It’s great having perfect vision!

Forgot to add but all the small things they tell you to avoid really do make a difference. For example they will tell you not to sleep with the fan on for first week or two, wear the eye goggles for one week. Wear sunglasses whenever you go outside. Apply the drops on time.

Did mine last year at Berkeley eye center with Dr. Yankelove. Fantastic experience throughout the whole process. He has years of experience with tried/true technology. Went to him based on a referral and have no issues with my eyes. Well worth the money!

I went to Berkeley on Weslayan last year on a friend's recommendation. No complaints, it's amazing waking up with perfect vision!

Had Dr Mann's son do mine at Mann eye. Awesome experience (well as good as having your eyeballs lasered can be) he's friendly and up to date on the latest laser tech. Other than burning eyes for the few hours after the procedure so side effects. Just passed the one week mark. Also you will be tasting the eye drops... It's a little unpleasant haha Price was $5000 for the pair. I got it on sale for some 40 th anniversary at $3500.

I went to 3 to shop around and get comfortable. Here's my experiences
First I went to Houston Lasik & Eye. They were close to my home which I liked not having to in the loop. Coworker recommended. Very straightforward pricing and not much sales stuff. With my first responder discount came to $1300 per eye.
Second Joffe Medicenter. They were very nice. Office is nice too. Place is a bit more central to get to. Professional certainly with some sales element. I thought it was going to be cheaper but its 1695 for the blade free. I saw a cheaper price but it wasn't blade free :(
Third, LVI (laser vision institute). This is near the galleria area so not that hard to get to. They were also nice. They all are. Not to pushy. Price same as Houston Lasik & Eye. Wait time was bit, but I'm not in big hurry.
Honestly, there were all nice. I ended up going with Houston Lasik & Eye. Just enjoyed the lack of the sales element. They actually don't offer bladed LASIK which maybe is what made me decide on them in the end. If blade free is so much safer, I kind of wonder why other places are still doing it other than to keep advertised prices down.
I don't think there is a best place. I had a great experience and saw amazingly well 5 minutes after Dr. Khokhar was finished. No pain, no nervousness, hand was held the whole way through. Saw 20/10 the next day and returned to work. No down sides for me . Happy with my decision. Goodd discount for first reponders and military (sister).

Didn't do mine here in Houston. So no specific recommendations . That said, best thing i ever did. Worth every penny. Regardless of where you end up doing it, you'll hate yourself for not doing it sooner.

Dr Whitsett did my lasik and I could not be happier with the results. Did not hurt that he's very easy on the eyes (every pun intended).

Went to Mann Eye on Westgreen for mine. They were wonderful through it all. Best choice I ever made.

I went to lasik plus and couldn't be happier. I will say the trip home in bright sun even with sun glasses was hell. I would recommend like a sleep mask or something for that. it's pretty amazing though; I went home crashed for a few hours and woke up and could see perfectly.

Lasik Vision Institute. I got my Lasik done in mid February this year. I would say my eyes normalized around the 3rd month mark near June. Before that, I had a few occasions where I would wake up to blurry vision (sometimes one eye is worse than the other) and night time the lights would refract. Now, I have no issues. I dont even put the drops in anymore. Even driving at night, I can't find any complaints. Before my 3rd month mark, I would always contact Lasik Vision Institute whenever I noticed a variance in vision. They were always helpful and always welcomed me to come in speak with the doctor. Highly recommend them. My total cost for both eyes was about $3K which included plugs, lifetime warranty, and something called CONTOURA. Hope that helps

Diagnostic Eye Center - Dr. Sanders. A lot of docs I know go to him for lasik. Edited to add that I got lasik done by him and am very satisfied.

Great question! I've been a patient at Berkeley in Kingwood for over 10 years. I'm getting my preop done next week and lasik the week of Thanksgiving. I didn't bother to "shop" around since I've been going to Berkeley for so long. I'll be paying 3300 since I haven't used my 300 allowance this year insurance gives me for contacts. Been wearing glasses for the past week to get my eyes ready for the preop. Been wearing contacts for over 20 years. FYI, don't get caught up watching YouTube disaster stories bc you don't know the real story, not following post op instructions. I'm very excited to toss out these goggles and contacts
Can anyone recommend an eye doctor who does LASIK surgery? Thanks!

Dr. Mattioli, LASIK Plus. Eric and I both did it at the same time. Best thing EVER!! He does a lifetime guarantee special, because most people need it done again. So, he throws it in the package. Good Luck!!
My daughter, Micah Hervada Ackerman, is thinking of having LASIK done in the Houston area. Since we are relatively new to the area, I would appreciate any information,...

In the early stages of looking into LASIK. Does anyone have an affordable but experienced doctor recommendation in the Houston area?
Susan W. replied:
Dr. Scott recommended Dr. Ravi Chundru for my cataract surgery. He is excellent. 281-893-1760. At Red Oak & 1960. I assume he also does lasik.

Call Klein eye care ...Dr. Scott recommendation
Cammi M. replied:
Travis (my husband) co-manages with Dr Slade who did both of ours. He is a pioneer in the industry. Travis can do all of your pre and post op in his office so you just go to Slade for the surgery. I agree with Jacque ... Life-changing:-)
Cara H. replied:
Dr. Slade did mine. I was recommended to him b/c of my severe astigmatism and how bad my vision was. The experience was great, and the results were soooo worth the expense. It really is life changing.
Has anyone had LASIK? And who do you recommend? I want the best for a procedure like this.
