My husband, Jonathan Warner, is a general contractor and his parents lost their home in the fire. We are heartbroken with our community. Right now Jonathan is trying to find ways to share his knowledge of the Valley Fire rebuild, the SR rebuilding process as he goes through this process with his parents and keep a large skilled crew of Santa Rosa/ Windsor employees busy until the city needs them to help rebuild. Customers who need work NOW will help to keep our local crews busy will ensure they are here for us when we need them. Jonathan: 707-206-5578https://m.facebook.com/jwarnerenterprises/

Hi my name is Darron Peter, I would be more than happy to do a walk through and guide you through this process. Give you an honest estimate and get you back in your home ASAP. Just know you need to start the process soon as you can, sitting in the County building permits her to be overwhelmed it's going to push your permit in your inspections out weeks maybe months. My husband KC works at Friedman's and he said that Golden West does fire restoration. Contact is Ray Nielsen at 707-293-6544. When you get started, let me know if you want me to put you in touch with KC - he works directly with contractors and wants to try to make this process easier on those that have lost/have damaged homes. He's had experience with Valley Fire residents.

1. Architect vs Designer: Do you have an opinion on which one is necessary? An architect would be about 10% of building cost...

Rob G. replied:
I suggest an architect based on our experiences. Several builders we spoke with insisted that there was no need for an architect. For $5k-$10k they could get a draftsman to draw up the plans, get them signed off by an architect and into planning. And none of these builders were knowledgeable about net zero housing. In the end we focused on finding a builder who specialized in net zero structures. To our great fortune the company has an in-house design team headed by a great architect. For us that turned out to be a blessing. The design costs of our home originally were in the $24k area. We were forced to spend an additional $10k trying to satisfy our HOA. We changed the plans 3 times before we finally appealed to the BOD and told them that if they didn't approve our original plans we would by land elsewhere and build our home there. Additional costs were incurred making design changes as it became clearer what we really wanted. The company we are using is called Healthy Buildings and they are located in Napa.

Just throwing this out there. I can’t vouch for this service as we haven’t had the chance to use any of these types of companies, but as I said above, I think there is some there there for those in a pinch for architectural s/structural vs budgets. We would have no problem using one of these services if a client picked one. You will STILL need an architect to do the site plan and some minor general note changes, at end a tweak in the plan for your design? but you are talking about serious savings. If you could find plans in chief architect format and an architect proficient in that software, THAT shaves a ton of design time off the clock too! Houseplans.com

There's no Studiopress theme specifically for lawyers, but most of the Business themes would work. Agency, Enterprise, Executive, etc. Third party Genesis companies do have them, like http://www.web-savvy-marketing.com/store/frederik/

In my limited experience and a large number of diy customers comments, I have some opinions about PCB's. They must be double sided with plated through holes, with a poured ground plane that both power and signal are grounded to, through those component s that go to a ground. Put this between components and signal circuitry traces, make the traces from curves, no sharp corners and keep the poured grounds under signal and under power components, physically separate, till just before power cord input. Read "Grounding and Shielding" by Ralph Morrison. Volume 4 is likely all you will need and the entire book is available for pre-inspection on Amazon.

I think the average audiophile views SMD the same as STD, as they have been told they can't sound good. Wrt bulk foil they apparently have higher distortion at low frequencies - possibly as a result of thermal modulation? Bruce Hofer has a paper about this. Holco has a limit of, iirc, 100V so not suitable for tube circuits.
