It's going to be very hard to find a puppy to adopt. They go ultra fast if one pops up. If you have your heart set on a puppy, I would go through a very reputable breeder (I know a couple if you'd like their info). If not, maybe consider adopting an older one. Petfinder.com is great.

I bought mine 6 mos ago from a breeder in Norco. U need to be very careful with breeders. Lots of bad ones out there. I'd say you should check out the retriever rescue. We signed up them but had found our puppy a few days before they found one for us. I'll let u know now, there are little to no pure goldens at a shelter. My guy was seven months ago when I adopted him. I got him through GRCGLAR many years ago. The website currently shows a one-year old male but many are in foster homes until they are ready to be placed. Then they get matched up immediately. Go back to the shelter. Go to the intake window and use that phone. Don't talk with dispatch. Kennel staff are there. Tell him to ask who is feeding the dogs and get a supervisor on the phone. Ask to speak to the Lieutenant on duty. If they don't help you, ask for Dr. Hawkins, the shelter director.
