If you want a puppy, I recommend going to a rescue who handles that breed, getting preapproved, and ready for when they get a pup. If you aren't sure of the breed, try Lovebugs Rescue or Leashes of Love. They take pregnant moms and orphaned puppies all the time and are extremely conscientious and reputable. https://www.facebook.com/148367702014006 Lovebugs Rescue Leashes of Love Rescue, Inc.
Hi everyone! I just moved to the area last week and my husband and I are looking to adopt a puppy! We want to find a reputable place and something hopefully not to far!...

Keep all of the above sites at your fingertips...often each shelter or rescue will have a list and photos of the current dogs. My mom got an angel-gift several years ago (Toby) from Modjeska Ranch Animal rescue. Mom passed, so we inherited him and are just crazy about him, too. At Modjeska, they go to kill shelters, determine which pets have the best chance of being adopted (temperament-wise) and then they foster them at a home in Modjeska Canyon (not too far..beyond Lake Forest). Here's a current video from their facebook page https://www.facebook.com/ModjeskaRanchRescue/videos

We also adopted our Weim through Friends For Pets rescue. There are specific breed rescues all over So Cal. However the rescue in SC has some great dogs. Our friends kid's joined in a program this summer where they read books to the dogs. ❤️❤️❤️

iCare pet rescue is great. Go to www.petfinder.com and you can specify that you want a large breed and a puppy. The dogs are all from adoption agencies.

Looking for a animal shelter to volunteer at. Any suggestions? Still fairly new to the area. Staying in Dana point now. Sat or Sunday would work great. Thanks!

Check out the Coastal Animal Services Authority in San Clemente. It is the pro-life shelter serving Dana Point and San Clemente. My daughter volunteered there while in college and loved it.
If anyone is looking for a dog Max has been at the San Clemente-Dana Point Animal Shelter for 3 months. He is 5 years old and looking for a home. He's so sweet and nice...
