We have bats living in our attic :( I think they plan on hibernating there this winter . Does anyone have any suggestions for eviction? Or can you recommend a local pest...
Kit V. replied:
We had this happen too. A bat specialist told us to find where they were entering the attic and tack up netting over the hole so that they can crawl out (just tack it at the top, not the sides or bottom). The netting keeps them from getting back in, so it doesn't kill them. It worked beautifully! They relocated. We ended up putting up a bat house a couple of months later and it's packed with these little guys. Will is correct about timing but I believe that is in the spring. Check with the folks at Sierra Wildlife Rescue (530) 621-4661. They may know.

Hangtown pest control does excellent bat work. I highly recommend them! 622-1912.

I have Hangtown Pest control come to my house and they are great but they said they don't do bats. Jeff Duke Can you give me a hand with mine? My bats are 40 ft up in the awnings of my house. need a crane or scaffolding to get up there. I have hundreds of them. I want to wire mess them out when they are gone to Sac in the winter months.

Lawn and Bug Service Is there a company that can take care of my lawn, pest control (ants, wasps, etc)? I currently have big out but I still see weeds and bugs...

Turner and Nader have both been around for a long time and have a good rep in the community.

Your best bet is spraying lavendar/peppermint oil around your property or using cedar mulch. Just a suggestion.

My company doesn't service Jacksonville but a note on the weeds. If you have a St. Augustine grass lawn, treating for weeds in the middle of summer is about impossible. Most herbicides we use have to be used in the cooler months. We can spot treat for broadleaf type weeds but doing full lawn sprays for weeds when it's this hot can burn/damage the grass. Right now most companies would be doing pesticides (for cinch bugs) and fungicides (to combat fungus from all the rain) along with some liquid fertilizers. So if you do get a new company remember it takes time to get the lawn in shape and there won't be much they can do for the weeds until fall comes.

Check out Trutco. A friend of mine runs the business and they do a great job. https://www.trutco.com/

I've fired two companies in the last two years...Bug Cops and All Good Pest Control. My yard never looked worse than when I used All Good. I suspected I was getting skipped then billed by Bug Cops. They also wouldn't take care of some weeds in the yard that I was having an issue with. I've since gone with doing it myself again and I use Pat's Nursery's monthly plan. So far it's been 3 or 4 months and my yard has never looked better. TLDR: Stay away from Bug Cops and All Good, or whatever they are called now.

ask your neighbors. take a look out of the window when you hear the weed whackers and lawn mowers going and see what companies are taking care of whose lawn. if you like the way their lawn looks call up the company.

I paid for a lawn service and it was a rip-off. There were always some weeds left over and getting them back out there again was a hassle. I now just apply weed n feed about three times a season and my lawn has never looked better. Get one of those push dispensers, a bag of weed n feed, and follow the instructions on the bag. For lawn pests, you can also get stuff for that at home depot. I spray my house to keep pests out myself as well. I do this about once a year.

We use Total Spraying - http://www.totalsprayllc.com/ For the lawn care (mowing, trimming, etc.) it's $100 a month for us and they come every week, year round. They do really good work and respond well to request. It's an extra $25/mo. for them to do the fertilizer and chinch bug lawn treatment. They also do general pest control, but I don't use them for that as I get it through our termite provider (who ALSO does lawn service and tree trimming, Florida Pest Control.) Call Total first - they're excellent and the prices can't be beat.
