Three years ago, we stayed at Hobby Horse Overnight Stables in Mitchell, SD. 605-995-1581. For us, from SW MO, it was about 600 miles, so made a long day. Looks like it will be about the same distance for you. There is also a Cabella's just down the road. From Mitchell to Custer is about 320 miles. When we travel 2 days to reach a trail riding destination, we like to do a shorter trip the second day, so we have plenty of time to get horses settled in and camp set up that second evening.
Hello! We are relocating and need a horse hotel along the way... does anyone know of and recommend anywhere in Springfield, Mo? Any help would be appreciated.

Wanting to ride at Eminence, Missouri. Where is the best place to stay?
Jan H. replied:
Depends on what you want. Large crowds, partying but good riding then check out cross country trailride. Smaller groups then Coldwater ranch or big creek trail ride. I think there's one called riverside or something too. They all ride the same area.

Rivers Edge Campground in town.

https://www.facebook.com/303076216377761 Riverside Motel, Cabins and Beulah's Country Home is the best. It's directly beside CCTR. You don't have to pay for the meals and it's all the same riding. If you have friends at Cctr you'll have to stay there or meet at the front gate because you cannot ride into Cctr without an arm band.

Whitewater State Park is 17 miles south of I70 on Indiana/Ohio border. Has horseman's camp. Wayne County Fairgrounds is closest to 70 one exit further east 765 935 6291. Richmond, Indiana is what to look for on the maps. I70 and us 27 and i70 and us35 are the exits. Feel free to PM me if you need anything while passing through our area. We have an excellent vet at I70 and Indiana 227, one exit east of the aforementioned. Hopefully no need for him but just in case. We are about 6 hours from Jamestown, TN. We try to get there at least once a year to ride.

North of St. Joseph, is a conservation area called Honey Creek with pit toilet and tie outs. No water. It is free. Otherwise further north near Nebraska CIty, NE is an Iowa State Park called Waubonsie State Park. Pens for horses, hydrants and pit toilets. I think it runs about $14 per night.

Agree with Julie McDonald - if you can drive a few more miles from St Joe to Smithville, I would recommend it. And if you have time to ride at Smithville, please do - the trails are extremely well maintained and they have a lot of miles to ride.
