Hello! Does anybody have a linguistic developmental guideline to assess speech development in bilingual children? My 20 month old is always assessed with monolingual...
Christine T. replied:
Further exploration of this topic led me to many scholarly articles, which all mention using a portfolio assessment for language development in bilingual preschoolers, but I did not find a check list. http://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/ED388088.pdf
I'm a bilingual speech-language pathologist and I agree with the above. At that young age, bilingual kids should be following more or less the same milestones that monolingual kids are. These can be found at http://www.asha.org/public/speech/development/12/

Third vote for modern family dentistry! It is so nice they have Saturday appointments and they take both adults & children so you can get all dentists done in one shot! We tried JC pediatric dentistry and they aren't as good or patient with scared kids. We love Tribeca pediatrics on Hamilton park.

I would recommend DRS on Columbus. Pediatrician and Family medicine..I remember them saying that they allow only vaccinated children when I went for the open house. https://www.drsmedicalassociates.com/

Check out DRS on Columbus
Lebesgue_Couloir replied:
Presumably your child won’t be closely interacting with other kids at the practice, no? Each time I go to TriBeCa pediatrics we go straight to the exam room. The anti-vax issue would be a bigger concern for me with schools. Edit to add: Just to be clear, I’m very much pro-vaccine—my child is receiving all routine vaccinations.
