Anyone want to recommend a pediatrician? I'm a first time mom and at my appointment today my midwife told us we should start picking out a pediatrician. We live here in...
Meg H. replied:
You've got lots of recommendations here but I would live to recommend our pediatrician. Lance Slaymaker with Village Pediatrics. Not in gardner, but totally worth the drive. We've been using him for 9+ years.
Emily G. replied:
I looooooove Dr Vieira for my little one at Gardner Family Care!!
Karen C. replied:
Doctor Punswick, at Gardner Family Care, such a caring, wonderful person!
Joel L. replied:
Dr. Punswick is awesome for my boys, and I see Dr. Vieria. They are both amazing
Michelle H. replied:
Not in Gardner, but Dr Nelson with joco peds@Shawnee mission hospital. Walk-in hours daily, call backs the same day.
Amanda P. replied:
Dr. Vieira at Gardner Family Care. She really gives you a good amount of time and is very good with our daughter.
Duane W. replied:
I would stay away from anyone associated with Olathe Medical Center. KU would be best
Jamie R. replied:
Leslie, I have worked at a pediatric office for 13 years now! If they weren't as great as they are than I wouldn't have worked there as long as I have....and now I trust my own children in their hands. It is, however, over at 435 & Stateline inside of St. Joseph Hospital. You can check out their website. Childcarelimited.com

Ashley H. replied:
We love Dr Grimaldi@Pediatric Associates of Olathe. Even the other doctors we have seen there for other random things were awesome!
Rebecca M. replied:
Sure, everyone is entitled to their beliefs. However, Gardner Family Care should mail a letter to ALL his patients letting them know about this. So they aren't blindsided during an office visit and experience a beloved doctor all of the sudden treating the patient like a piece of absolute trash that has no worth in the world. GOD BLESS.
Angela M. replied:
I use Dr. Eileen Vu at Pediatric Associates in Olathe across from Olathe Med. My son was born early (before we chose a pediatrician) and she took care of him at Olathe Med. there are 6 or so pediatrician a in her office and we have always been able to get appointments if needed last minute
Janette W. replied:
We too have had horrible experiences at Gardner Family Care. Very rude and didn't give a crap about my son.
Shelby C. replied:
Dr Greenfield..pediatrics and internal medicine. Olathe
Brian L. replied:
Dr Morris here in town across from new casy's
Brian L. replied:
Dr Morrison sorry
Michelle S. replied:
Good luck getting in to see Dr Punswick and there's a very rude old lady that pretty well wants your medical history for an appt. She even refused my husband a recommended follow up after an urgent care visit. She told us to go back to the urgent care place. Any plain person knows you should go back to your dr for follow-up care. And you shouldn't need a walk in care. There should be same day sick appointments imo. Check out a few of the pediatrician offices around Olathe Med and make an appt to see the offices and go from there. Meet the drs, office staff, find out the policies and make a decision from there. We had bad experiences at Gardner Family care unlike others and we have great experiences at Preferred Pediatrics unlike someone else. You can find someone with an opinion about every office. I'm big on pediatricians because I think it would be hard to keep up to date for today's reccomendations for people 0-old.
Amy S. replied:
Strongly recommend Dr. Morrison with Gardner Family Care - he is great with all ages. He's been our family doctor - always easy to get in and see him, great with kids and so close to home.
Cheri M. replied:
I must agree with many on here, Dr. Punswick is AMAZING. And I have never had issues getting in too see him. He sees the entire family and I highly recommend him. I have always had a good experience with the office staff.
Erin C. replied:
Dr. Punswick see's all of us! He does have his convictions (see above article), but I feel that he is VERY upfront about it and takes the time to know and help his patients.
Emily G. replied:
Re GFC bashing, Dr Morrison was on call when we needed a walk in appointment; he personally called me a day or two later in the evening (after clinic hours) ON HIS DAY OFF to give us the radiology report. We've had nothing but great care there.
Alisha G. replied:
I second Dr. Greenwood. Love him!
Alyssa G. replied:
Dr Lynn Beck at pediatric professionals! Our first dr at college park missed Morgans hip disorder. At 14 months I decided to switch and she noticed it at her first check up! She's awesome
Ryan L. replied:
We like PPA (ppadocs.com) next to OP Regional. We see Dr Filardi but have also seen Dr Beck(Hellebusch) and both are fantastic. Set up interviews with doctors and you can get a feel for them. They won't be offended if you don't pick them; they want what's best for you and your children.
Lynsey J. replied:
Leslie Slaughter I love Dr. Bryan Nelson at Johnson County Pediatrics. He, the other doctors, nurses and staff are worth the drive out by Shawnee Mission Med.
Ashley A. replied:
Leawood Pediatrics is the best! We see Dr Hamm but all of the doctors are fantastic. Can't say enough good things.
Lari S. replied:
Allison Hettinger at preferred pediatrics
Rebecca M. replied:
I really like the doctors at Pediatric Assoc. of Olathe. It's not far at all and they are really wonderful and good at what they do.
Becca R. replied:
Heartland pediatric care! We see Dr Black. She's fantastic
Brooke L. replied:
We went to Preferred Pediatrics in Olathe with our 1 st. I disliked all the Dr's there and dreaded going. When they told me my daughter had no speech issues at 3 but she failed the child screen and I was pregnant with my 2 nd child - I knew I had to find a new Dr. That is when I found Dr. Punswick at Gardner Family. He is amazing and I can see the love he has for my whole family (he sees me, my husband and our 2 children). My 2 nd was 6 weeks early and was in Olathe Med for 16 days and he would call me every morning after checking on her and was so awesome during her struggles in the beginning. I couldn't imagine my family seeing anybody else!
Rachel G. replied:
Dr. Bryan Nelson has been amazing. My son is 8 weeks old and I have been more than satisfied with him. Johnson County Pediatrics.
Laura S. replied:

Pediatric associates just off the plaza is where we go. Our doctor is Dr Moylan and he is so fun, knowledgeable and charismatic that he makes us feel totally comfortable every time we see him. The boys seriously love him! He really listens to what you want for your children. They also have an urgent care that is open 7 days a week until from 8 a-11 p (I think? Not sure on the time) but it's very convenient. We have met the other doctors in the office too and like them enough to trust them when we can't get to Moylan. Could not say enough positive things about this office. Most of Moylan's rooms are decorated with old comics and super heroes too ( added bonus)
Kelly P. replied:
We go to Johnson County Pediatrics. It's right by Shawnee mission medical center on 75 th. They have quite a few different doctors, we go to dr. Bryan Nelson and love him. I love that they have all day walk in clinic hours. Good luck! And congrats daddy!!!
Marty K. replied:
JOCO Peds. #384-5500. Been taking my 4 kids there for 26 years, Dr. Nelson is their doctor, but absolutely any of the other doctors or PAs in the rotation are awesome. Very responsive (we have used the back door, done "office surgeries", and even been treated over the phone a couple of times when I was too sick to get them in), kind, and knowledgable.
Emmanuel J. replied:
We also take our kids to Pediatric Associates on the Plaza and my wife loves our pediatrician Dr. Ehly. They have walk-ins both AM and PM and are open 7 days a week. When Eli dislocated his arm last Thanksgiving, our Dr. was available. I agree that they are great.
Lisa G. replied:
Heather Baker in olathe very sweet nd helpful
Marty K. replied:
I (we) love us some Dr. Nelson! First time we met was discharge from SMMC in February of 1989. He completely bypassed introductions with me and headed straightway to the bassinet holding my firstborn. Gushes of "THIS is who every nurse & patient is talking about" and "You are lovelier than they described" and "Angel" and then he whipped her out of a swaddle and kissed her feet. Sold. Best pediatrician ever.
Sarah T. replied:
Pediatric professional association at overland park regional. Their website is ppadocs.com I used to work there and loved working there. I believe they have 6 doctors. I would recommend Dr brockelman.

Renae J. replied:
Dr Mark DeRoo at College Point is awesome! A couple of my family members actually take their babies to my dr (dr james Rahto) I LOVE him, best Dr I've ever been to, he was my dr during my pregnancy too. even though he is not technically a pediatrician my family loves taking their kids to him and completely trust him, he is fantastic and also a really great person- he is at college park family care in Overland Park. I'm not BCBS so I'm not sure if they are in network for you, but definitely worth looking into!

My oldest child is 34 & the youngest 7. For the last 20 years we have used Children's Mercy Pediatric Care Clinic. The little one see's Dr. Rogers in the Purple Clinic (not as busy as the yellow clinic). If you ever need a referral it goes much smoother because it's all inhouse. We are alwayz seen within 15 minutes of our appointment time, nurse returns calls the same day - it's a great experience
Kristen M. replied:
I go to Stephanie Painter at KU. She always gives Juliette a book and she's super nice and gets it done. I went to another doctor there for a horrible rash because she had an emergency day off and the doctor didn't do anything or tell me anything. Went back and saw mine and she said she'd just give me both medicines for what it could be and get it gone
Lindsay T. replied:
We go to Dr Brown at ku Midwest

Lauren L. replied:
Dr Sara Myers, I think she's at lee summit pediatrics, is fantastic. Preferred pediatrics is also a great place, both peds there are very natural minded.
Abigail S. replied:
If you don't mind driving to Lawrence (45 mins), I have a few recommendations. The Farhangs are naturopaths, and excellent. If you want someone more on the conventional side, Kirsten Evans is a pediatrician who doesn't hassle you about vaccine choices....See More
Kristen O. replied:
Raising Natural Kids has a photo album where people from different states commented on the doctors they use that are "natural friendly." There is a photo for each state.
Is there anyone that recommends a good pediatrician? So far I'm looking into children's mercy but I'd like a specific pediatrician for my baby. Any moms with answers?...
