I've been to the 4433 Barber Shop four or five times now, and I love it. Very traditional/it's just this old italian guy who's run it out of his house for YEARS. Straight razor on the neck, vibrating massage at the end, and it's the only haircut I've ever gotten where I didn't need to shower after to get all the stray bits off my neck. Highly recommend.

I lived in a westport for a few years and used both Barbers of Westport and Choptops with good results. I found Choptops to be more consistent with getting appointments with the same barber/stylist, although when I went to Barbers of Westport, I was usually a walk-in and got whomever was available. Choptop's PBR while waiting was always a plus.

Anyone have a good recommendation for the eastern suburbs? Preferably Lee's Summit, but independence, blue springs would be cool too. I liked going to the calico beard, but I need a place that is closer and somewhere between wham bam thank you ma'am and an "experience". I've been to Courtney Brothers in blue springs, and wasn't feeling it.

Unfortunately I can't speak for bald, as I'm a really hairy guy... but I go to Gillis Barber in River Market and they're great. It's a couple guys in a tiny little shop who have been cutting hair for years. I always see Vince because he is a whiz with a straight razor and I like him as a person. They're cash only and only take appointments by phone. No walk-ins.

Normally, I'd say Sulimays, but I'm going to say maybe check out Danger Salon as they are a premium and post alot of their work on Instagram. I see a few beards here and there and they do shampoo/towels for just regular hair so I'm not sure about beards. Definitely cool/young people you can talk with . Take a man to a barber and he trims his beard once. Buy a man a $30 Norelco beard trimmer at Target and he's set for the five years of its warranty and probably much longer.

Civil war veterans are bad ass, if he's old enough to look bad ass he doesn't need your opinion or guidance, unless he's a neck beard, I'd say art of the shave is fancy and expensive, any black barbershop is cheap and skilled
