Best places around KU to get a haircut? What are some great salons or barbers that you've had some solid experience with? Preferably affordable too.

Been getting my hair cut by Brandi at Amyx barbershop on Mass St. for the past two years. $9 bucks for a good haircut, can't beat it.

Downtown Barbershop, Jon Amyx is the man.

Amyx North is what I think it's called. But it's the one right next to Tom Amyx. One of the best barbers from Tom Amyx bought it this summer and runs it with another dude. Best haircut in town and cheap too. Also, they'll do a straight razor shave for about half the price you'll find anywhere else

I always go to [Z Hair Academy](http://www.zhairacademy.com/) on the southwest corner of Iowa and 23 rd. Never had a bad experience there, and it's pretty cheap to boot. I always end up tipping pretty well because the quality is great and it's way cheaper than franchise salons. Granted, I tend to forget about haircuts and get one two or three times a year. It's always simple and low-maintenance. If you're looking for something complicated or intense, there are a few places on Mass my friends swear by, but I don't remember names.

If you're a guy: when my boyfriend lived in Lawrence he always got his hair cut at Downtown Barber Shop by Takei. I have gone with him a few times and he treats your hair like it's mafuggin art. He ways did a fantastic job and even does straight razor cuts! His Instagram name is mycutstravel if you wanna see examples.

Red's Barber Shop on mass. It's the best place in Lawrence.

Haircut recommendations are always iffy because it depends entirely on what type of hair and style the person giving the recommendation has. I stress so much about getting a good haircut. I'm planning to get one this week and still am not sure where I'll go, but I've been so worried about getting a bad haircut that I've put it off for ages and now my hair is extremely long.

I'm a fan of the downtown barbershops, but I had two bad experiences at Amyx with different barbers and decided to try something new. I went south a block to Larry's, and I've been happy with them for the past 8 cuts or so. It's a father-son team and they both do great simple guys cuts. Also, it's cheap and there's rarely more than a 10-minute wait.

For both guys and girls hair, Ashely at Rejuvene Salon and Spa. Wouldn't go anywhere else in Lawrence. http://www.rejuvenedayspa.com/

I have a coupon for ProCuts on 25 th and Iowa you can have. They're not bad, I just don't cut my hair often enough to use it.
I am new guy here in lawrence and looking for good saloon or barbershop, and places for massage and Sauna Hey guys, what are good places here to get a haircut, is there...
HawKarma replied:
For massage, check out [Southwind](http://www.southwindhealthcollective.com/) at 11 th and Kentucky. If you want to go cheap, consider a student massage at Wellspring at 10 th and New Hampshire. As for hair, if you don't mind paying ~$30 + tip, Salon Lucca on 6 th is okay. You could also do Static at 8 th and Mass for ~$20 + tip, depending on the person. There are also numerous barber shops on Mass for cheaper. Not sure about sauna, but I'd be interested to know. Perhaps Salon DeMarco on Mass?? Welcome to Lawrence. Enjoy the town!

Freestate Brewery is a pretty good saloon.

Joda & Friends on 6 th Street across from the Dillions. Make an appointment with Earl; He's been by barber sense I was a toddler.

There are 4 or 5 barber shops downtown on mass street. No idea which one is the best though.

Head downtown to stadium barbershop. It's $9 for a haircut and Rex's guys always do a good job.

You could go to JCPenny and get a haircut from my girlfriend. I'm picky with my hair, but she always does a great job.

All you have to do is go to Scizzors on 6 th and like...Lawrence Ave, pay 20 dollars for your first hair cut and then they give you four $2 dollar coupons. There's also a barber shop down by the Dillons on 6 th and wakarusa that takes other barber shop coupons. Voila! 5 decent hair cuts for only $28. edit: I have no idea if this will actually work.
On my Day for Me (and the plumber) Day, I had a traditional shave and haircut done by Dan Fitzpatrick at Amyx Barber Shop downtown. Great shave. Hot towels. Face...
