Taking an adult only KC epicurian staycation for two soon. If you were to plan one starting with lunch on Friday through Breakfast on Sunday, what would YOUR itinerary...
Jill L. replied:
Lunch Friday Cafe Sebastienne, Breakfast either day - Room 39 or Corner Cafe, Julep is GREAT - 3-6 HH on Friday.
Kathy D. replied:
Extra Virgin happy hour (or patio if you love hot weather), Reiger for dinner, streetcar to city Market on Saturday...lots of breakfast places, Farmhouse for lunch, Novel for dinner, Webster House for Sunday brunch! Boulevard Cafe and Jacobsons both great for HH!
Brandi S. replied:
Chefs table brunch at Webster House.
Tim H. replied:
Cascones in River Market for breakfast, dinner at Rieger Hotel and drinks at Manifesto, Lunch at Vietnam Cafe in Columbus Park. All accessible from the street car.
Susan M. replied:
I would recommend Extra Virgin or Gram & Dunn for HH. If you would like either a romantic evening or a nice lunch - Vivolore. It is in Independence, but a true hidden gem and I suggest reservations. Another fun lunch spot is Genessee Royale in the West Bottoms. Take a walk along the River by the City Market and have a drink at the Farmhouse in the patio. KC has so many great places! And then finish with lunch on the patio on Sunday at Char Bar and try the fried chicken, brisket or burnt ends.

Have you ever played tourist in Kansas City ? I've done that with my folks, and it was a really fun day. There's alot to do here in Kansas City. http://kansascityonthecheap.com/kansas-city-spring-summer-festivals/
Jessie R. replied:
Lindsborg, KS fits the bill for quaint. It's a historic Swedish community, has artisan shops, Scandinavian B&B, restaurants, tavern, a college with a nice little art museum, an old rolling mill/museum on the river, and you can hike in the surrounding Smoky Hills. It's very small and remote, and near no cities, but it is cute and peaceful. In between is Salina, which has a Smoky Hills museum and historical society (and tiny Kozy Inn for awesome burgers), and Abilene has some stuff, including the Greyhound Racing Hall of Fame, and you can pet greyhounds.
Tina H. replied:
We love Rocheport. Stay at Yates House (the best food!) and have dinner at Abigail's.
Aaron T. replied:
Hermann, MO for sure. While you're there stop at Swiss Meats and load up on brats. You'll want to fill your chest freezer with them.

Omaha's Old Market is great! We were just there for the equestrian World Cup. If you're a beer drinker, you can request the Omaha Craft Brewery Tour (self-directed) from https://www.visitomaha.com/restaurants/breweries/craft-brew-tour/ and you get 9 free full-sized beers. We also toured the Durham Museum which is in their Union Station. The weather wasn't the best so we didn't visit the Laurentzen Gardens (current featured display is Legos sculpture) or zoo. I've heard the Joslyn Art Gallery is wonderful as is the walking tour of the bronze sculptures which starts at 14th and Capital. If you stay in a hotel close to CenturyLink, they provide free shuttles to and from locations within a 5-mile radius. Plank's is great for seafood, Nicola's for Italian, Jackson Street Tavern for upscale bar food. The Flatiron Cafe is pricey but wonderful. Enjoy wherever you go!

Looking for hotel recommendations, with specific requirements. Please help? I am not at all familiar with Los Angeles, outside of several brief stops at Union Station...
PlasticGirl replied:
Those two places are on the polar opposite ends of town, so I'm kind of curious what is it you're coming into LA to do. Also - this is what I would do. Go to hotels.com and punch in the dates of your stay, and do one search for Union Station or Santa Monica. Use the results to find hotels in your budget. Then, go to tripadvisor and/or Yelp and look up the reviews and pictures. You could also hire a travel agent. That said, the area around Union Station can get a bit sketchy at night. Little Tokyo is safer, but it's right on the edge of Skid Row. Santa Monica has its share of the homeless, but it's generally safer to walk around at night.

City Hall garage is free on weekends.

If you want to be close and in a covered parking, you pay for it. If you want less expensive, street parking and you can use the paybyphone app. If you’re in for a walk and want to save, you can try the residential streets around Elgin. Enjoy your weekend and masks are mandatory in indoor and public places. Stay safe.
homicidal_penguin replied:
The city owned garages in the byward market are fairly cheap. Might pay like 8 bucks for the day
In adition to the comments on this thread www.parkopedia.com has a lot of useful info. Enjoy your visit. (If you’re staying at the Chateau keep in mind their multilevel parking garage was torn down last year, while there’s a few spots onsite they’re probably valet parking guest vehicles offsite and passing on the higher costs).
Jennvds replied:
The national gallery has an underground lot too. Can’t comment on price (daily) but I used it often when I had client meetings in the area. Seemed reasonable.
snow_big_deal replied:
Park on the street at the north end of the Market : Cathcart, Bolton, Bruyère, Boteler, etc. I *think* there's no time limit on the weekends but follow the signs. Or in Sandy Hill (Stewart, Daly, Wilbrod). If you prefer indoors, the city lot on Clarence east of Dalhousie is a good bet.
