Tanya Mitschke is right about the spinal decompression, my chiropractor offers that and it is wonderful!
Tanya M. replied:
Cortisone injection weakens the area, I wouldn't go that route. I would recommend a highly referenced chiropractor. If you go orthopedic they will want to do surgery! Also use Fast Relief first thing in the morning. Usually have five days the pain will go away. Because I had approximately 24 sympathetic blocks due to my RSD, that area is now weakened and I've had two episodes of really bad pain. I actually have an adjustment once a week. Best decision I ever made. I also was having hip pain because of my injured left leg had atrophy and I would walk with a limp. My orthopedic answer was a lift in my shoe! My chiropractor told me to take the lift out and he would take care of my hip pain and make certain my leg was same length as my uninjured leg. Well he was certainly the miracle worker! I had never in my entire life been to a chiropractor until a few years ago. All your nerves run through your spinal column. Sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. Just my two cents for what it's worth. You don't want a MD getting you on pain meds ( side effects) also physical therapy will help to strengthen your back. My husband has disc issues, he recently had spinal decompression done by a local chiropractor. It worked for him, now he only sees his chiro once a month. He initially went to an orthopedic doctor that wanted to do surgery, he passed, did physical therapy and continues to do the exercises for his back.

Go to Paul Holman a neurosurgeon in Katy with Methodist Hospital. You need an MRI. Then he will recommend treatment after he reads the MRI. that's who I went to for my back. He's highly recommend and sharp.
Kristine J. replied:
Deep Tissue Massage Therapist. Since they said your scan was clean, followed up by a Chiropractor. It is essential that you ask direct questions on what they were trained in The MT that is. Also do not use very hot or cold treatments on the back longer than 7 minutes at a time. Depending on the tissue issue you will find comfort in one over the other as a possibility.
So, for my upcoming birthday my sister has offered to pay for a visit to the chiropractor. Any recommendations?

Sunny A. replied:
Dr. Rose. Neurosurgeon at Methodist. I wouldn't use a ortho. John had back surgery over 10 years ago. He said if head a back ache he would do I again. But if David goes to yoga, let me know:)
Laura E. replied:
Doc Chaseis awesome! If he needs more, I agree with Gretchen Garchey Edel Fogelsong about neuro vs ortho. You know how much trouble Keith has had with his back. When I first met him he was adamant about not seeing an ortho because of their eagerness to do surgery. When the pain got so bad, he gave in, but 5 surgeries later, he finally went to a neuro.
