Thanks Barbie! Wendy at Okanagan Equine Vet said there used to be an amazing eye ointment that was no longer available. I'll have a look for terramycin on line or next time I'm in the US - sounds like a good thing to have on hand regardless:)

Good point, https://www.facebook.com/ann.p.turner.9 ( I assumed Vet had been consulted) Even if the eye has had an injury, with no remaining foreign body, it can be very painful and sensitive to light. We had a mare with a (relatively minor) injury to her eye (piece of hay whi ch 'poked' it, but did not lodge in eye) and it watered copiously. We had vet examine and 'diagnose'. We applied the cream and drops prescribed (they had analgesic properties) and put on fly mask and made a 'patch' for that eye, as it was painful and so sensitive to light. It healed up quickly and well. :-)
Does anyone have any recommendations of a Kelowna Veterinarian that they trust? Or a specific Vet that I shouldn't go to?

Kelowna Veterinary hospital is where we take our three cats. Dr Coughlin is amazing! she specializes in cats. Plus she is not that expensive!

Pawsitive Care is also holistic! Dr.Moira helped me fix Pierre's allergies so he didn't have to wear a cone anymore!
Does anyone know the name of the vet clinic in Kelowna that does spay/neuter at such a reasonable price? I believe it's on or off of Sexsmith. I'm from Salmon Arm and...
Brittany S. replied:
The one on sexsmith is Okanagan Veterinary Hospital. But for a lower cost, and still great vet I recommend Asher Road Pet Hospital. It is also in Rutland!
Lisa A. replied:
No Rutland is not the cheapest not even close. I had a lengthy experience with them with our Shepard they were great but not inexpensive. Burtch Animal Hospital is the cheapest in Kelowna for spay and neuter and exam costs and they are very compassionate also
Lisa A. replied:
That vet on Kirchner almost killed my mom's cat and i have had horrible experiences there as well. I won't step foot in that place ever again!!! Dr Jay in Rutland was great with us but we didn't get any deals cost us over 5000$:(
Lisa A. replied:
Burtch Animal Hospital are the best priced vet in Kelowna and they seem great.
Anyone been to the Burtch animal hospital before? Thinking about taking Bruno there to get neutered. Heard great things about the vet there. And more reasonably priced.
Kate B. replied:
I go there often. I am always treated really well! Last time I went, it was an emergency (Lexi was attacked and hurt pretty badly) on Easter Sunday...and they didn't charge me for a holiday, Sunday or the consultation. She had shoulder surgery and it's been a month and a bit and Lexi can run and jump and sass with the best of them. They sent me home with appropriate pain control medication and did complementary follow up exams. Dr Muhndi has a very thick accent, and so does one of his vet techs, so listen carefully and get them to write instructions down!
does anyone know of a good vet i can take my baby to :(? one who actually cares about the health and safety of her and not just in it to rip me off. do those even exist...
Sarah D. replied:
^ yes she is! http://mobile.yp.ca/bus/British-Columbia/Kelowna/Jacobson-Veterinary-Services/2338611.html
Curious is there a way to get help with vet bills... I have to take my cat in, but being the holidays I won't have adequate funds until the end of the month :(
Charlene K. replied:
Asher vet offers a free checkup through their website. That will save you $75 at another clinic, but your kitty will likely need antibiotics and possibly a course of prescription food if he has a UTI or crystals. Asher's regular rates are a lot better than most other vets and they offer after-hour emergency care also at very reasonable rates. http://www.asherroadanimalhospital.ca/
Any of my vet peeps know of a good vet In Victoria??
Megan H. replied:
Mill Bay vet in mill bay is great... 45 mins out of town but worth the drive
Heather M. replied:
Also out off town in Duncan (but FANTASTIC) is Prevost Animal Hospital. In Victoria, I'd recommend Kindred Spirits, Admiral's Walk, or McKenzie. I've locumed at all of these places and can vouch for their abilities.
