Anyone have a dentist and/or optometrist they could recommend in Kingston?

Well in that case. Ive always had fridge magnets for Dr Geeta Naran and seems to have a lot of student patients.

For dental care, Dr. Scott brown or Dr Scott Peterson at Meadowbrook (near the Frontenac mall) and for optometry Dr Marcus Minder at the cataraqui mall. I grew up in Kingston and I've seen them my entire life, they're great!
Dry eye specialist in Ottawa? Does anyone know of a dry eye specialist in Ottawa or how I could find one? I've been suffering from chronic dry eyes for several years now...

See your family physician or NP or whatever you've got to get assessed and then ask for a referral to an ophthalmologist if you really want to get a more thorough eye exam.

Focus Eye Centre has a dry eyes clinic. (Can't comment on the quality, as I've never been, just heard about it on the radio) My husband had laser surgery there and it was great, so there's that. http://focuseye.com

I had/have the same problem. I know this is still eye drops, but I strongly suggest Genteal Gel Drops if you haven't used them before. It adds oil to your eyes so that your tears don't evaporate.

I don't have a good suggestion for you, so you can ignore if you don't want suggestions for other remedies. I have been going through a bout of dry eyes the past few weeks. One thing I read online that I tried and helped was to make sure my monitor was lower than eye level. Automatically it makes you open your eyes a lot less (just try, look at something at the top of your screen/up vs down and you'll feel how much your eyes open). I did it at work and it helps.

My husband received wonderful care at the Eye Institute at the Ottawa Hospital. https://www.ottawahospital.on.ca/wps/portal/Base/TheHospital/ClinicalServices/DeptPgrmCS/Programs/EyeInstitute/YourAppointment

I see Dr. Kashif Baig at the Eye Institute about my dry eye (drbaig.ca). You'll need a referral to see him.
My experience of treating dry eye has been a process of trial and error, followed by a commitment to daily routines in order to keep my dry eye at bay - it definitely has not been a quick fix. Dr. Baig wasn't able to do much for me except confirm that I have dry eye (exacerbated by having had eye surgery) and then getting me a Rx for Restasis. I also went to a dry eye specialist in Kingston (Todd Urton) who diagnosed me with lagothalamus, and an Appletree doctor diagnosed me with blepharitis. Now that I know about all of these conditions and have done the research to find out how to treat them, I'm feeling a lot better. The best source of info I've found online is dryeyezone.com, which is immaculate in its advice, and the founder also runs an online shop that sells hard-to-find dry eye products.
In my experience, few doctors have been as helpful as your optometrist was to offer you some actual tips. A doctor may give you a prescription to treat your dry eye (e.g., Restasis, antibiotic ointment, oral antibiotics) or other treatment (e.g., punctal plugs) depending on the cause of your dry eye and severity, but none of my doctors explained to me that these treatments are largely ineffective if they aren't paired with some other at-home therapy, like warm compresses, increased intake of omega 3s, wearing protective eyewear in the daytime, wearing moisture retaining or protective eyewear while sleeping, and applying over the counter lubricants and ointments. I had to find that out myself by doing lots of reading (which is really hard to do when your eyes are in so much pain!). Hopefully this info will help you get more quickly on your way to relief!

Have you checked Lasik MD? I know it's a laser eye surgery shop, but they had great dry eye solutions for when I got my surgery done. One of the solutions was permanent silicon based plugs inserted in you tear canal. It's a painless procedure and it cure my dry eyes. I think it was 150$....
