bicycle rental recommendations hello,
im visiting knoxville with my family in march for a job interview. we will be staying downtown and we would like to do some...

There's a place next to Volunteer Landing called Outdoor Knoxville. I think they do bike rental, but I don't know what kind. Check out http://www.outdoorknoxville.com/outdoor-knoxville-adventure-center The easiest way to get to them on foot is using the elevator across Hill Ave from the James White Fort. You will see a small foot bridge jutting out from the parking lot. It extends under an arch made of bicycles and connects to the upper floor of a small building. Enter the building and take the elevator down to the first floor. Outdoor Knoxville should be next door. This is the parking lot for Volunteer Landing and Ruth's Chris. For coffee downtown, check out Coffee and Chocolate on Union Ave. There's also some places in the Old City (intersection of Jackson and Central), but I don't know much about them. Also, traveling on foot is easy. We have a free trolley that runs daily except Sundays. Check out the map and schedule on the KAT website. The Gay St line will drop you off right by the elevator to Volunteer Landing.

I highly recommend Trace Bikes out in Bellevue. Scott and Michelle are awesome people, bicycle advocates, and always have women's needs for cycling in mind. They even do some women's events at the shop and a few local rides for men and women. I think they recently did a women's mountain bike ride. They're fairly easy to get to from Brentwood/Franklin or from town, depending on where you are.

Green Fleet is great Halcyon's cool too, but more likely to charge you for every little thing edit: those options are primarily for repairs; they both have bikes for sell too (halcyon has way more)

You can check out Cumberland Transit on West End in Nashville. There is also MOAB, which is where I bought my bike from, and I really like them. Their selection is good, and their staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They have a Franklin and a Boro location. If you don't mind big-box, there is always REI as well.

Had good luck at Ride 615 in Hermitage. Biker's Choice in Mt. Juliet is nice, too. REI is a good starting point for size, etc. However their bikes are not cheap.

Online. Some European brands are selling direct to consumers . You'll get more bike for the money , it's just you'll have to know what size you are because you won't get to test ride it. Look at brands like commencal, YT, and canyon
Cades Cove on Saturday mornings. Old Walland Hwy along the Little River to Townsend then the bike path through Townsend. And if you're up for a bit of a challenge take Ellejoy to Cold Springs Rd to get to Old Walland Hwy. The scenery on all these routes is beautiful.
Anyone know of a bike shop that's open today? Looking to go test out a few bikes
Shane H. replied:
Hey dude! The only one in town that is open is River Sports.. While I love that place for backpacking and outdoor gear, their bike shop is pretty lackluster. You should check out Harper's Bike Shop during the week. Jon and Shawn will definitely help you out!

Cedar Bluff Cycles has a great selection and knowledgeable staff.
Todd J. replied:
They're all closed on Sundays, if you want to spend more money than you need to, go to harpers or cedar bluff bro cycles, if you want good people, good selection, good prices & not feel pressured into buying anything, go see Scott & Cliff at Knoxville Bicycle Company on Hardin Valley on your way into work tomorrow.
