Need advice, we are looking to take family to mountains for weekend within 2 hr drive for a nice resort or hotel with a pool and preferably walking distance to town,...

I concur with Grand Lodge at Peak 7 or Grand Timber Lodge. GTL is a bit further to walk to downtown but very doable (like maybe 10 blocks). My family has a timeshare there, which gives us the ability to share deals throughout the year. For 2 hours of your time listening to their timeshare spiel, you get 40% off at Grand Timber. Let me know if you're interested in that deal, for some people it's worth it if you can stay strong.:) Otherwise, both places are very family friendly, Grand Lodge is nicer/newer/more expensive. both have pools, walk out to trails, structured kid-friendly activities available, kitchens in all rooms, etc.

There's a spray pad right on the side of the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. I don't know if splash pads open that early in the year though. The Hotel Monaco is really pretty.
