You can always ask your BR attorney who they recommend in Lafayette. They will know who has a good reputation

My father has a small and successful firm with a great reputation. Check out Brandt&Sherman on FB or the web. They really offer a personal approach that the billboard lawyers can’t give.
Anyone know a lawyer in Lafayette that can write up a power of attorney!

Does anyone know any lawyers that specializes in handicapped rights? (Not for money benefits) Just protecting broken rights.
Steph H. replied:
Also go to http://www.laddc.org/ I havent looked through everything but they deal with disabled rights issues. They might be able to refer you to an attorney that deals with specifics.

Contact Nancy Landry she was our adoption attorney but that is not all she does is also a state representative. See what she says, she may refer you but who deals with education and special needs issues in legislature albeit on a silent level on some issues. If it is not something she handles in court she should be able to refer you to someone. Try Families Helping Families and calling the Autism Society we did not get too far with them on our particular issue. We have since met a few special needs families in our area who are also local attorneys maybe FHF will have more information on hand now than was available several yeas ago when we were having issues.

Thanks everyone. The school didn't follow my son's behavior plan on his IEP. The result was horrible and could of been different. This violation could of been avoided and now it has caused a stigma for him. It's also against the law. We have to go to court over it. I tried to have a meeting with Pat Cooper along with some other issues. He cancelled my meeting until his attorney can be present. Smh! All I wanted was my children the same/fair treatment to get an education. But I guess that don't exist anymore. I'm realizing why so many parents home school. It would be ideal, but it takes away a key ingredient, social skills. Both my boys lack it big time. All I can do is pray and trust God's plan.

FYI Brandon does baseball, basketball, bowling etc. Check out the DREAMS foundation also Challenger Baseball registration is going on right now. If money is an issue you can ask about the stipend. Brandon plays for free. Most of the kids on his team are in middle and highschool but the age range is up to 18 years for baseball. A couple years ago we even got to go to the Little League world series where the kids played an exhibition. All costs except were covered for our entire family other than spending money for souvenirs. There are all sorts of activities for them into adulthood. If you think it is something you are interested let me know and I can send you the forms.
