Can anyone recommend either of these hotels for a stay next month? We will be travelling with 2 children. We ideally would like to be within walking distance of surf...

The Laguna Riviera is awesome!

If you're talking about the Laguna Brisas Best Western it's perfectly fine and clean. Nice location in bluebird area which is near a park. The Tides and Art Hotel are also good.
If you have 2 kids and want to be the closest to town, I would recommend The Pacific Edge. I have several friends that come and visit. It is a nice clean hotel with a nice pool right on the beach! ENJOY! =)

Depends on your budget. Surf and Sand is very expensive. Pacific edge is good location and more reasonably priced. Riviera is an older classic but has been renovated, good location and good prices.

We love Laguna Riviera for its location. Price is very reasonable on the off season. Don't expect fancy, but I'll take the sound of the surf all night over anything! The Best Western is nice but is across PCH.
Does anybody have a good recommendation for a hotel in Catalina? It seems to be all over the place online with reviews and its odd because a lot of places don't show...

Descanso Beach Club is supposed to be the best....I've stayed at the Atwater, it's def older but the location is great! I've stayed at the Metropole and it's nice but it's up the hill.....I've stayed at the Catalina Resort and Spa, it's nice, heated pool and a mile away from town. So, I guess it depends on what your looking for. Just make sure you go to Steve's Steakhouse for dinner (window reservation)....I feel Avalon Grill is overrated.....good luck!
Need suggestions if you have any input please. I'm hosting a mastermind day here in OC in July for appx 40 clients. Ideally I want to be right on the beach but it can...
