Dr Quilala will accept vaccine free patients and she is great about only prescribing medication when it is truly needed. I believe you have a choice of the type of filling (such as no Mercury) at many of the dentists, and you can refuse fluoride if you want. Otherwise I doubt the type of doctors you seek exist up here...maybe in the bay area but not Lake County.

No dentist or doctor is as you describe, but there are some that are tolerant of these practices. Betony is correct about Dr. Quilala, BUT I have to say that I've always had better experiences with family doctors rather than pediatricians. Dr. Q's st aff is NOT as tolerant as she is. Dr. Sun is a dentist that will honor your requests in those ways, and I don't even think that she does the silver fillings at all anymore.

An example of how Dr. Sun handles things. She does believe in the benefits of flouride, but she also knows about the risks. She's not going to give you even a smidge of a hard time if you choose not to use it. I don't think she'd be down with leaving decay untreated unless the tooth is about to fall out though.

We used Dr. Quilala throughout our girls' childhoods and she was pretty good about the no vaccine, little to no antibiotics, vegetarian lifestyle. They only went to see her maybe once a year and we supplemented their care with trips to acupuncturist, o ur own knowledge of herbs and homeopathics. I highly recommend the book http://www.amazon.com/Smart-Medicine.../dp/1583331395 which will give you lots of good information. As for dentists, no, I haven't really found a great one who doesn't push that stuff but their teeth are pretty good.
