Okay, so feel free to ask more questions, I live in the area and also happen to love hiking. I heartily recommend Lyngen. You could do a day hike to [Blåvatnet](http://www.ryggsekk.net/turer/blaavatnet-7 aug2011/20110807-Blaavatnet-073_4_5_tonemapped-e2.jpg) or walk in the mountains depending on how good shape you're in. There is a great cabin with a sauna you can rent cheaply as well next to Blåvatnet, if you want to I could make you a map with a route suggestion and find bus information for you for a 3 day hike in Lyngen?

Trip suggestion for Lyngen: https://www.ut.no/tur/2.17117/ You can get on the bus headed for Lyngseidet/Alta. Enjoy the view from the ferry cafeteria. When it reaches the other side, just walk off and head into the mountains. Ut.no has hiking maps for all of Norway. Edit: You can camp almost where ever you want.

You should read this about the "Allemannsretten", which allows you to pitch a tent almost anywhere you want: https://www.visitnorway.com/plan-your-trip/travel-tips-a-z/right-of-access/ If you want some hiles that are a little bit more demanding than Fløya and Rødtind, I'd recommend Tromsdalstind (the big mountain behind Fløya), Buren on Kvaløya (great views over the Kvaløya mountains), and Hamperokken. These are all day-hikes and can be accessed by bus from the city centre. Hamperokken is probably the nicest hile, but it is the longest hike and quite exposed ! Only hike/climb it if you are comfortable with exposed edges and scrambling ! Also Sommarøy is nice, but the hiking there is not the best. The nature is amazing, and if you have the money to spend you can rent a kayak. Lyngen is also really nice, and not that hard to get to. I would try googeling a bit for transport and hiles, and also visit Den Norske Turistforeningen Tromsø in Kirkegata 2 for more tips. Check online for opening hours. They can also recommend 2/3-day trips ! Enjoy your stay, and if the weather is bad I'd recommend going to see a film at Verdensteatret, the oldest functioning movie theater in Norway. They also have a cafe/bar.

If you plan to go towards Sommarøy, but you want to be more secluded and experience something different, you should know that there actually is a ferry that can take you to [Tussøy](https://goo.gl/maps/K8BgGv5fjYA2). This ferry follows the Summer timetable [here](https://www.tromskortet.no/getfile.php/1312427/Rutetabeller%20%28pdf%29/2017/Hovedtermin/5_090117.pdf)
There are currently very few people who live on the island, so you should bring everything you need for a few days. The beaches are gorgeous, and the view quite extraordinary. As far south/west as you can walk down the road from the ferry, there should be a nice secluded beach. Perfect for a tent.
