I have a pup who is sickly and I am thinking I might want to find another vet, do you have any suggestions?
Katy C. replied:
I also use Bradley Animal Hospital and concur with Rob Burk- they are definitely not cheap but treat my dog very very well.
Michelle I. replied:
Sorry to hear about your pup. We've been to 23 rd st., and Dr. Lewis and they were fine but have found our favorite in Dr. Jarrett at Jarrett Small Animal Clinic.
Stephanie R. replied:
I have worked with many vets in town due to working in rescue, but my personal animals all go to Dr. Jarrett - reasonable cost and 100% compassion for the animals. She will talk you through any and all testing before charging you.
Tosha S. replied:
I use Gentle Care animal hospital...not cheap but not extremely expensive. Darrin is one of the vets and he is very caring and understanding. I haven't taken my dogs anywhere else since they were recommended to me.
Paula K. replied:
Dr. Anna Johnson at Lawrence Veterinary Hospital. Not cheap but ultra sharp and compassionate. Will discuss any situation with you until you are satisfied. Gives a written estimate of costs and does not pressure you to do anything. She has been working with one of my dogs for quite a while and we are making very good progress...allergies are hard to dx, tx & treat. Doc Lewis is my regular vet and I love him but he is ultra old school and he knows it and has no problem referring you out to others.
Shelly W. replied:
Eudora Animal Hospital is GREAT!!!
James C. replied:
hope your puppy gets well soon. it is so sad to have a sick dog. my dog goes to animal hospital of old west lawrence at 7 th and michigan, 842-0609. all three the vets there have been wonderful and they're understanding about paying on your bill too.
Carrie P. replied:
Lewis Veterinary Clinic is said to be good. We have used Gentle Care before also but we won't be going back after a very difficult experience.
Laura G. replied:
I take my cats to Dr. Jarrett, but not my dogs anymore. She misdiagnosed my dog and I had to take him to K-State. I think she's fine as long as you don't have anything serious.
Melissa J. replied:
Dr Lewis on 6 th is great, our family has used him for as long as I can remember
Ashley R. replied:
I took my dog to Lawrence Vet Hospital. They are always very nice and helpful with any issues that came up.
Crystal T. replied:
We take our pup to Tonganoxie vetlarosh.com they are great, loving, caring and good price! And living in NL it's not too bad of a drive! They also have a referral program you get a good discount if you mention my name.
Amanda H. replied:
Sorry to hear it. We use Animal Hospital of Lawrence off 7 th and Michigan and have for years. We have been very with them.

Does anyone have any awesome vet recommendations (for dogs) in Lawrence?
Kendall S. replied:
Our vet! Lawrence Animal Hospital, 7 th and Michigan. We usually see Dr. Bayouth, but the other vets there are cool, too. 842-0609
Victor W. replied:
I've always heard great things about Animal Hospital of Lawrence over at 7 th and Michigan. http://www.yelp.com/biz/animal-hospital-of-lawrence-lawrence?nb=1
Sara H. replied:
Omg, so much love for Dr. Bayouth. i will have to show him this feed.
Angel G. replied:
I go to Linda Niedbalski, DVM at Animal Clinic of Kaw Valley. Next week she is joining the Wakarusa Veterinary Hospital. She has been great with my dog, Baxter.
Angel G. replied:
Yep I used to go there a long time ago - Dr. Bayouth is really good too
Mark B. replied:
Bradley Animal Hospital just west of Haskell on 23 rd is nice.
Sara H. replied:
Unmm HELLO!?
Kendall S. replied:
I hope you've made an appointment with Dr. Bayouth! (Even though I couldn't remember the actual name of the practice. But, heck...it's all of two blocks from us...and he's the best vet we've ever had!!!)
Looking for a vet that will see a turtle. She just needs a beak, manicure, and pedicure.
Claire T. replied:
I love this place, just south of us. http://www.theexoticvet.com/ I believe that Adolph Maas owns it... he is one of the best reptile vets I know: http://arav.org/adolf-maas-dvm-dipl-abvp-reptile-and-amphibian-practice/
JoDee A. replied:
The Pet Stop will do that. We had our "Roger" the turtle in there. Kindness also sees turtles, they may do trims also.
REPTILE specific vet- how does one find a local listing for these? anytime i do a search for someone looking for a reptile vet in there area, all i get is dog/cat...

Theresa S. replied:
Dr. Lewis, Lewis Veterinary. Older experienced and reasonably priced.
Cheryl M. replied:
We use Wakarusa vet hospital, Been going there for 26 yrs .if you call before 10 pm . If you call after 10 pm most vets will send you to Emergency vets in KC. Hope you puppy gets well .
Allison S. replied:
Thank you all! I think I will take to Lawrence Animal Hospital - opens the earliest and heard great things. Keep our little frenchie in your thoughts!
Kelsey G. replied:
I second David Nottingham. He is at Dr. Lewis' on Tuesdays and the vet in baldwin on Thursdays. He is mobile the others day and will come to you.
Lindsey F. replied:

Kristine M. replied:
Dr Bradley is expensive, but one of the best in the state. Best equipment & he is so thorough and can diagnose things other vets will miss.
Megan T. replied:
We have frenchies too! Dr. Jarrett (Jarrett Small Animal Clinic, P.A.) is amazing with them. Is very knowledgeable about brachyecephalic issues as well
Amanda H. replied:
Sorry to hear about your pup. We go to Animal Hospital of Lawrence on 7 th and Michigan. Have for years and have always been satisfied. May your furry friend get well soon.
Barbara R. replied:
Take your baby to Manhattan Vet School. They are the best. It's a little bit of a drive but well worth it.
Shawna R. replied:
David Nottingham he is pretty awesome!
Melodie A. replied:
I use Wakarusa Vet as well. Very good!
Hoffer R. replied:
Companion Animal Hospital baldwin ks, great vets. Saved our goat from polio, our dog from congestive heart failure, heart murmur, our other dog from ingestion of a sock. Great experience
Emily S. replied:
Stay away from Lewis if you want quality care without corners cut. Eudora, Wakarusa Vet Hosp., Jarrett Small Animal, Bradley (pricey) are all good. Gentle Care is also good. If this is an emergency then you may want to bite the bullet and go to Blue Pearl in KC.
Okay FB friends in Lawrence... I need the name of a good, but reasonably priced veterinarian to take my dog too... he seems to be suffering from some kind of allergy...
Mike S. replied:
Christi Jarrett749 2993. She is in that little strip mall behind where Food 4 Less was.

Animal companion hospital in baldwin, Tim Jones is the BEST!!

Roberta B. replied:
Oskaloosa Animal Clinic is very reasonable. Not Lawrence, but close enough.
Karen S. replied:
I used to work for Dr. Kraft at Lawrence Veterinary Hospital. Couldn't tell you how much he charges though.
Jo K. replied:
Bobbi Kearney, he's already on a steroid that's why the bumps are so weird... we know he has allergies as he chews on his feet and scratches his face... the 1/2 steroid daily helps him not do that as much, but hasn't cured it...
Bill B. replied:
Take him to Lewis Vet at 6 th and Lawrence Ave. I have 4 dogs and would never take them to anyone else after visiting him.
Carolyn R. replied:
Dr. Lewis is great and very reasonable. You don't even need an appointment just remember he is closed between noon and 1 pm every day. He also has Saturday hours. Dr. Kraft's office is good as well but very, very expensive. I still use them for my Dad's cat but every time I walk in the door, I am set back over $150
Anything anyone can do to help this wonderful Vet get the lung transplant he needs would be truly appreciated. He has insurance, but the double lung transplant is not...
Vet recommendations? Hi y’all! We just relocated to Lawrence with our two senior cats and we’re looking for vet recommendations (or vets to avoid). We are searching...
WowzaMeowza replied:
We go to Eudora Animal Hospital. Started going in 2014 with our senior pup who ended up with bladder cancer which they diagnosed and treated throughout the progression. We have two different dogs now and still have only experienced great, affordable service. Dr. Lewis (6 th and Lawrence Ave.) is sometimes recommended for really affordable, simple treatment (eg, routine vaccinations) but I wouldn’t recommend him for anything else. I know a handful of folks whose pets had serious illness which he didn’t catch. A few were puppies with parvo and they ultimately died because they didn’t receive sufficient treatment early enough.
ShallWeBeginAgain replied:
Clinton Parkway Animal Hospital. It's expensive. I've had to use other places when low on cash... but Tom Liebl is the best vet I've been around. He's honest and compassionate. And never sold me on bullshit tests or anything like that. I've had a couple of rescue dogs that didn't build trusting relationships easily.. He patiently earned their trust and worked to keep it for their entire lives. Can't recommend them, and specifically Dr. Liebl enough.
JabberwockyDingDong replied:
We take our pup to Gentle Care Animal Hospital at 6 th and Kasold. Also have had good experiences with Dr Bradley on east 23 rd.
tehAwesomer replied:
Hard to beat Dr Bradley if you want the best. Just understand it won't be cheap.
alogsd3 replied:
I work at a pharmacy that works with all the major vets in town. I don't have pets of my own, but Clinton Parkway, Bradley, and Cat Clinic have by far the nicest and most knowledgeable techs and receptionists. Dr. Rowland out at Wakarusa vet is a genuinely wonderful person, too. I would trust them with my animals first, but of course they do have a reputation for being a bit more expensive.
xOoOoLa replied:
cat clinic, no loud dogs and the vet is so smart
SpecialistBeat9 replied:
Dr. Bradley cared (and I do mean cared) for both our cats through their 18 years. His knowledge and persistence are an unbeatable combination. He also must be an incredible trainer because his entire staff is unfailingly professional, courteous, and sensitive. We have just adopted two new kittens and we will always trust their health and lives with Bradley Animal Hospital.

I use the cat clinic on mass. They strictly work with cats so it's less stress if they don't like dogs. Jennifer takes the time to get to know your cat and you. I had my first cat pass unexpectedly last year and they staff were so kind and caring while helping me. My current cat really likes it. They're thorough and really explain everything to you so you can understand.

Hello All, I need some KC advice for where to take my 8 month old english bully to be neutered. We originally thought we were going to breed him, but decided against it....
Chris J. replied:
Mission Med Vet ... They're fabulous!
Shannon H. replied:
Dr Becker or Dr Wingert at Independence Animal Hospital are both very well respected bulldog vets with over 50 years experience working with the breed between them. Their prices are very competitive. On a personal note, congratulations & thank you for making the responsible decision to neuter your pup!
Cyndi T. replied:
Dr. Becker!
Steven R. replied:
Appointment made with Independence Animal Hospital for mid-February.
Alison W. replied:
Kennedys animal hospital. In raytown. Dr. Kennedy is great with Bulldogs. I have a puppy mill rescue bulldog and she was in God awful shape. 3 doctors and 2 k dollars later I was suggested to her. Problem solved and taken care of in 1 day and cheap. She specializes in Bulldogs. Owns them and helps rehome and rescue them.
Karrie W. replied:
We use Grandview Animal Hospital. They have Bulldogs there all the time. We have been very happy with them. Most of the staff owns bulldogs as well.
Chris J. replied:
I love Grandview Animal Hospital!!! We adopted 2 Bulldogs from Hard Luck Hounds heart emoticon

I love Dr. Becker and Dr. Wingert in Independence Mo.
Does anyone know of a vet that will take payments? I need to get my cat spayed asap and can't afford the full amount all at once
Candace S. replied:
Try Dr. Lewis off 6 th street.
Renee H. replied:
Dr. Jarrett.
Dayna K. replied:
I took Angel to Mission KS years ago. Not sure if they are still there. Was the cheapest I could find back then. He sees Dr. Jarrett now. She is pretty reasonable with pricing.

Dr Louis and he is great!!!

i know you're looking for someone in Lawrence, but my brother in law has a clinic in Topeka and he is awesome. Travis Gratton at University Bird and Small Animal Clinic
Gina H. replied:
Dr Lewis he works with u he did for us
Kat H. replied:
I can't keep changing his food, we tried that he wouldn't touch it, ended up losing weight to where we could see his ribs, I need a vet that can diagnose if it's related to something outdoors or food related. The vet we saw while on our vacation in May said it looks like some kind of tree or pollen issue but that was when he had bumps on his back and that went away with benadryl. His elbows and a spot on his stomach are almost bald and no sign of it growing back yet. He's been eating Purina Beneful from regular Purina dog chow, obviously not big a difference but it's all we could get him to eat without forcing him. Thanks for the recommendations, think I will call around to all of those places and see who can get us in soon and their billing process! Andrea Ball I didn't even realize Topeka is almost as close to us as Lawrence now so I may have to do that!
Here is the cat who had been living under the building on 3rd near Elm. The shaved area is on the back and the abcess is on the left leg. Very sweet, handsome, talkative...
Angie Y. replied:
Any vet will check for a chip, doesn't have to be the shelter. Please hold on to him for awhile, don't leave him there. Please check with Dr. Jarrett. She might know who he belongs too..he does need medical care looking at that sore on his leg. Might try to clean it and put some neosporin on it? Might have to tape it so he doesn't lick it off? I'm no vet, but my guess it should be cleaned at least for now. Thank you for caring for him.
Angie Y. replied:
Where do you think he had surgery on? Is there scars or stitches on his back? Dr. Jarrett was asking me .
Amanda H. replied:
I know that my vet, Animal Hospital of Lawrence, on 7 th and Michigan can test for micro chips, for free. I can let you borrow a cat carrier if you need to.
Angie Y. replied:
The Lawrence Ks Lost and Found Pets Facebook page. Take a pic of him to different vets and see if they recognize it and check for a microchip
Any suggestions for a good vet opthamolgist in the Kansas City area? My little Maxwell may need surgery to correct his ectropion.
Susan B. replied:
I would say either Dr. Becker in Independence, MO, or there is an ophthalmologist there that I know many of the Wichita vets make referrals to. Lindsay Anderson do you know that vet's name? Also, are you in our sister group "Kansas City Bulldog Connection"? That would be a good place to ask too. Good luck!!:)
Lindsay A. replied:
There are ophthalmologists at Mission Med vet in KC and in overland park.
