I have been through a half dozen housekeepers in our 14 years here. They all start out like gang-busters, then things begin to slide. I don't understand how dusting lampshades, lamps, the bottom of a bureau, chair legs, becomes "spring cleaning." To me, Spring Cleaning is when you move furniture and do a thorough cleaning. Unless, I start moving furniture, nothing ever gets moved.

Initially I was not going to post this msg. however I feel I need to based on a recent bad experience with Vi Moore end end of June. Without writing all the particulars, she did not pay great attention to detail (I have pics. as proof). This cleaning is costing me more out of pocket money than it should have. I only contacted Vi based on previous positive postings. Not this recent one.

I run a cleaning company that has a good reputation in town, lots of local references, etc! We're all eco-friendly and we're a living wage company. We've been in Baltimore since 2003, and we're licensed, bonded, and insured, and use employees rather than independent contractors. Http://www.ecolisticcleaning.com.

I have had some success with Handy. They are very, VERY flexible and the prices seem reasonable to me. You can cancel with no charge 24 hours before the cleaning and you can get discounts for regular cleanings. [Promotional link,](http://handy.com/r/CLARK8027) we both get $50 off our next cleaning if you use this link.

Yes, mice in the old row homes are common. Keeping your house clean is good of course, but keep in mind that if your neighbors are filthy there's not a whole lot you can do about it. They will attract the mice, and the mice will find their way into your home through the walls.
If you decide to do a big deep clean with a professional, remember that it's just as important to keep things clean on a day-to-day basis. Don't leave food out. If you have a pet, this applies to them too -- have set feeding times, and put away anything that they haven't finished. Put grains, cereal, etc. in sturdy food bins, glass is good.
Your best bet is to buy some of the cheapy snap traps. Bait them with peanut butter or something else sticky that they can't just pick up without setting the trap off. Put out a lot of them. Don't fuck with humane traps. They're pests, and a vector for disease. Kill them. The snap traps are pretty cheap so if you're squeamish you can just put the whole thing in a bag and toss it. But if it gets bad enough you will get hardened and pry those dead assholes out of the trap and reset it.
Worth noting that if you ever have evidence of a rat that has made its way into your home, that is a serious safety risk. If you contact 311 for their Rat Rubout program they will send someone out to eradicate them. (Again, this is only for *rats* that are *inside* your home.)
