Dr. Martin, at Savannah, went above and beyond to save my son's two pet rats. I know…not dogs….but had to put in a good word for her, nonetheless. One rat (Timsy) had a huge tumor that was preventing her from eating properly or walking. Now she is getting around normally and healing from intricate surgery that Dr. Martin performed, to remove the tumor. Even when we went back to have Timsy's post-op check, Dr. Martin had to re-anesthetize the rat to repair a spot in the sutures where the wound wasn't healing properly. She didn't charge us at all for the visit. Dr. Martin also was tending to my son's other pet rat (Missy), who had pneumonia and was not responding to the first round of antibiotics. So, in addition, she called in a compounded Rx to a local pharmacy, for another antibiotic. The two antibiotics are now working, and Missy is breathing normally again.

Savannah Animal Hospital............only place around here that has Emergency Care 24/7, otherwise you need to go to Dover. That fact alone is worth it to me. Also, Dr Erin Giebel is wonderful.
Need a vet in the area for my 15 yr old cat who is constantly crying since I moved here in Jan. Any recommendations?

We recently had an emergency with our 8 week old kitten... the only vet that would see him was Dr. Gallagher Millsboro Animal Hospital. It was a sad ending, but they were compassionate and only charged us to put the kitten down, which was $30. I've heard great things about Georgetown, too. The veterinary prices here were a shock to me when we first moved here and Savannah is probably the most expensive. The doctors and techs are very good and nice, but we had terrible experience with the office manager. Our vet bill exceed our daily debit card transaction limit when we took our sick cat for a visit. Splitting up the bill seemed like a no brainer, but the office manager had a hissy fit over me not having checks with me and not having anyone else to bring me my checkbook. I felt like a criminal and won't go back. This happened right after I was told my cat wouldn't live out the week, essentially. It was traumatic. We were good customers... sigh.
Ginny H. replied:
I've been going to Rehoboth Animal Hospital since Dr Boros was there. Prices have definitely gone up since building the new office, but I'm happy with the treatment my pets get there v

We take our two dogs & one day to Savannah. We've taken several furbabies there through the years. Also, you may want to try to talk to Melissa Bacher Rodriguez, owner of The Pampered Pet in Rehoboth. Of course, that's just pet grooming etc not vet but she is very good w animals & has several of her own & knows abt health issues etc- so if you'd like to try for cheaper or maybe free advice from her...Good luck whatever your decision, wherever to take him/her...Will
Looking for a good vet close to Georgetown that's not too expensive or veterinary clinic. My cat was bit by a dog. Whose dog it was is unknown.
