That would be stressful! So sorry. Kyler and Kinsley go to Aspen Child Development across the street from the Heart Hospital. We like it there. Kyler lives it. Worth a shot if needed....they sometimes have openings in the baby room.
Where should a family with a two year old girl and dog live? My sister's husband just got a job in Lincoln, and they'll be moving from Oregon in three weeks. They/we...

The Highlands would be very convenient for her husband. Honestly, though, most of Lincoln is convenient and family-friendly. Around campus and the city core are less so. I'd suggest looking on Zillow for house rentals.

I grew up in south Lincoln and my wife and I just moved to the Rousseau Elementary school area and love it. I’m partial to the country club neighborhoods but moving there depends upon your budget and what you’re looking for in a home. You can easily avoid being close to campus as it is located north of downtown. We have a toddler and take her to Trinity Infant and Childcare and love it there. It’s hard to get into but it’s worth looking into.

I live in Southwest Lincoln and its pretty nice. This neighborhood is pretty decent and the houses are pretty good quality. https://www.zillow.com/homes/for_sale/globalrelevanceex_sort/40.74003,-96.679559,40.725787,-96.702626_rect/15_zm/0_mmm/

I have friends in Fallbrook and they really like it. * A few blocks away from the main highways so commuting should be easy * Its got trails for walking the dog and a YMCA for the little one to swim in * Right next to the grocery story and farmer's market (during the summer) * Next to the middle school * The biggest caveat or boon depending on how you look at it is that while the area itself is only 5 or so years old (so all the houses are new) it is growing fast https://fallbrookusa.com/community/

www.rentcip.com - properties all over Lincoln, great reputation.

Ruskin Place is dog friendly and is basically right off of Highway 77, so it's just a skip over to the airport. I would caution apartments though if their dog is prone to barking, like most hounds. I've never had an issue with noise complaints at Ruskin, but I don't know how tolerant other complexes are.

Remember Lincoln "traffic" will be laughable compared to what you're used to. I live on polar opposite LNK and I can reach there in 20 minutes or less. In fact, my neighbor is Homeland Security, works their most days and he'll pop home for lunch many days. As others have said most areas are very family friendly and dogs are becoming more accepted all the time. Were I your sister I'd draw a 1-mile radius around 56 th & HWY2. IMO that covers a huge cross-section of neighborhood styles and prices (not to mention rental house or apartments).

I really enjoy the Northeast side of town. Say, around 70 th and Leighton. The neighborhoods are older so cheaper rent in a house big enough for a hound dog may be a possibility. The neighborhoods are pretty quiet and have sidewalks for dog walking. We've got the Northeast YMCA close by, a new dog run area just north of 84 th and Adams, and great proximity to grocery stores. I drive to the airport for work myself and it only takes around 15 minutes.

What I've noticed living here is outside of campus and the North bottoms (the neighborhood directly North of campus) most students are pretty spread out and college parties/noise shouldn't be a huge issue. I live in the Belmont area and it's a really nice neighborhood, it's just a couple of miles north of the University so there are some students but mostly in the apartments here. Overall I don't think it would be hard finding a nice neighborhood for their family.

Thank you so much! My sister says thank you as well. She's feeling much calmer with some places to start her search!

I’m partial to south Lincoln and the newer developments but you pay for it (overpriced if you ask me), however, coming from Oregon it’s going to be nothing. Even South Lincoln to the airport is only 20 minutes on the worst day. Side-note, remember that just because a standalone home is under $400 k *does not* mean it is a good deal. Folks from the coasts are like what Californians are to Oregonians.

You should check with Diana Eschliman Flesner or Kayla Munoz to see if they have openings. They are the directors of Little Scholar's Academy. Its located on 14 th and Adams beneath that Dr's Office, so it would be super close for you! Grayson goes there regularly and I am a sub staff and work a couple days a week. So although I may biased, I highly recommend them!
