Priority 1 is to conserve energy. Limit its loss. So insulate your home first. Loft insulation, cavity wall if suitable, thick curtains, blocking drafts, etc. Certainly look at Green Deal, but don't presume it's the best option. Get 3 quotes from local fitters and then explore the finance options. Home Energy Scotland give good advice. TL don't recommend any specific GD assessors, but check you really need to spend on a GD assessment in the first place. If it is locked into GD finance, check that that finance is actually worth it and consider alternatives like talking to your local bank. When GD first started, interest rates were shockingly high.
