I second Thai Express! The Tom Ka Gai soup & the pumpkin curry are the only things we ever order. They are both sooooo incredibly good, that every time we say we'll try something different, we go right back to it!!! Their veggie rolls wrapped in rice paper are pretty awesome too. All super fresh! She shops daily for fresh veggies. Now I'm craving it!

Trying to plan a last minute trip to Savannah. Any recommendations on hotels and restaurant musts?
Kristi K. replied:
If you are going on a weekday, go to Mrs. Wilkes' Boarding house on Jones St. It is only open on weekdays from 11-2 and there is always a line. If you get there at 10 am, you should be seated in the first round of seating. Skip Paula Deen's. For Pizza, go to Vinnie Van Go Go's in City market. It is sooooooooo good. Cash only. Make sure to go to Savannah Candy Kitchen on River Street or in City market for a praline. If you want to go to a fancy dinner, Garibaldi's is outstanding! If you want to stay downtown, check out the River Street Inn, Bohemian, and Avia. They are all lovely hotels in great locations.
When I went a few years ago we stayed at the Catherine Ward House Inn. It was a great little bed and breakfast with a lot of history to the house. http://catherinewardhouseinn.com/
Shannon S. replied:
Six Pence Pub is a great place for a sandwich and beer too!
Sharon H. replied:
The Pink House Restaurant! Great place to have dinner. We stayed at the 1790 Inn. Very nice. Also, Leopolds ice cream is yummy. River Street is fun. There is a place there that has fantastic shrimp and grits. If I remember the name of it, I'll PM it to you. Enjoy! It's a fun place - lots of history.
Rene P. replied:
Bohemian Hotel on the River or Mansion on Forsyth Park. They are both beautiful properties.
Ask O. replied:
Love Savannah. Stay-We enjoyed MacMillan inn (Gaston Room). It's out by Forsythe park a short walk to the river. It's quiet out there and the inn is romantic and very reasonably priced. I appreciated the breakfast basket with baked goods and snacks that they provide as Savannah is as known for their food as they are their history so staring the day off with a full bed and breakfast experience did not appeal to me. There are a ton of hotels and bed and breakfasts though. Find the area you want to stay and grab one with good reviews that meets your budget. For food I made reservations or had plans for lunch and dinner everyday. Leopolds is a great spot for a snack. Pink house is an absolute must hit spot. We had our best meal at 45 Bistro though. Mrs. Wilks is a great lunch spot but get there early as a line forms. Lady & Sons is a great tourist spot and the locals seem to love Allagator Soul and Vic's on the River. The Crystal Beer Parlor is a old restaurant with a cool history, cheap menu, and lots of old school charm. We enjoyed drinks every night at the Distillery which I think is the best bar by far in Savannah. Their food is solid as well. If you want drinks by the water there are places lined up all the way up and down the river. While there grab an artillery punch the official drink of Savannah. Moon River brewing is the micro brew of savannah. The have a good spot just off River Street. The best part is you can walk around and enjoy the sites with your drinks. They will provide you with the plastic cup. Book a walking, trolley, ghost, or carriage tour on your first day to get the highlights. Then spend the rest of your time exploring the parks, squares, church's, sites, cemeteries and mansions that most interest you. Savannah is a very very cool city. It's one that will take several trips to fully appreciate.

Has anyone been to Piquant in Hyde Park recently? I've been dying to get to a french restaurant and this is the only one that appears in the area!
Rowena M. replied:
Mise En Place has a lot of French influence in their cuisine.
Rowena M. replied:
Here is their website. http://www.miseonline.com/
Christie D. replied:
An hour drive, but the best French restaurant in the area and it's at the beach! http://www.maisonblancherestaurants.com Mise en Place is great too but not really French. The small plates are amazing. I recommend getting several. Must try the foie gras and the lobster poutine!
Mi Casa is the one behind Applebee's in Riverview. They have my vote and I live for Mexican!
Kelly C. replied:
Mi Casa is the best great salsa
Tammy F. replied:
Here is my rundown...having lived in Texas, I think I know my Mexican!! We ate at Luna's today. I was pleasantly surprised. Fajitas were really good. The salsa is not remarkable. Margaritas were good and service was great. La Villa is very good, but not exactly the kind of place I want to go for dinner. It's more a lunch counter type of place. Food is very good and made with love! Poblanos is awful. Taquiera Dona Maria is ok. Went once, no desire to go back. Tres Amigos is ok, mostly microwaved / frozen food from the taste of it. Abuelas in Lakeland is really good. Haven't tried Sabor a Mexico yet. If ever in Orlando, try PR's Taco Palace. Amazing food!!
Nicole S. replied:
Amber Nanton...
Kelly M. replied:
It depends on what you like. If you like American-type Mexican like Taco Bell, then you'll probably like Tres Amigos and Poblanos. If you like more authentically Mexican food, you'll like La Villa and Taqueria Dona Maria.
Heading to Downtown Disney tomorrow. Recommendations for a restaurant?? We will have an 8 yr. old with us.
Paige M. replied:
T-Rex or Rainforest Café are both appropriate for kids. T-Rex gets my vote.
Tom M. replied:
We did Rainforest Cafe Twice and had a great experience.
Janna B. replied:
house of blues good and kid friendly. or Rainforest Cafe that is great place for kids
Dawn G. replied:
Call t-rex directly and you can probably get a reservation. They only allot a certain amount of tables to disney and then do their own. There have been times where disney.com has no available tables but when I called I got the day and time I wanted.
Alesha B. replied:
TRex Cafe. Call for reservations you won't be able to get one on line. Always booked. AWESOME!
Kelly M. replied:
T. Rex is like Applebee's with dinosaurs. I would eat at Raglan Road, but I am not that interested in dinosaurs.
Does anyone have a favorite restaurant on Central Ave in St. Pete?

Christie Buff Tewes- we lived in St Pete 8 years before moving to FH. They have the best local restaurants! Loved Harvey's, Brown Dog, Red Mesa, & El Cap on 4 th St. Wish we had great local favorites like those around here!
