Good luck, when we got our dog the vets in FH area wanted $400 to neuter him. Ridiculous, I now use a mobile vet that called pet friendly veterinary services. Definitely, most definitely Dr. Katie or Dr. Anna- both amazing and will take more time explaining things to you, being thorough, not running excessive tests, actually teaching you things about the breed (mine is a mutt.) I don't know price-wise how they compare. We do live in an area, as witnessed here, with several good vets. I just like the small practice, open seven days a week, techs are great, etc.

Oh, yes, Drs. Katie and Anna are the ones at VCK, Veterinary Center of FishHawk. Going there today, my dog is due for her monthly flea/heartworm/whatever pill and here at the house, no matter how we hide it in treats, any kind of food, olding her mouth shut, any trick anyone tells us- she can keep it in for five minutes and then spit the pill out and then I'm out $18. If I take the dog in (I never even call ahead) they will take her back to the clinic area, come out one minute later and tell me she did great. If her nails need trimming, they'll do that, too. No charge.

We have gone to Suncoast Animal Clinic on St Cloud... Dr A and Dr Logan are super....very considerate, and reasonably priced.

Definitely another vote for Dr. Anthony! He is amazing and I have found his prices to be well below the other vets in this area. He is very old-school and does whatever he can to save you money, without pushing unnecessary procedures or office visits.

Thank you all so much! I just called Dr Anthony and was told an exam was only $55 if I brought our pet to him. ( $70 if he comes to our house). That sounds very reasonable, however I don't know what a typical exam charge normally runs. LOL I think I will give him a try and go from there. Thank you all again for the recommendations.

Obviously everyone has their own opinion, but I would never recommend Care Animal on Bloomingdale. My dog had an allergic reaction to her vaccines and almost died because it took 10 minutes for their vet tech to answer the door I was desperately beating on (and what kept her so busy? she was giving another tech her breakfast order) My dog had white gums and was vomiting. Also after the Dr. came in to look at her she told me I had less than 5 minutes to decide what I wanted to do or the dog would die. THEN (here's the kicker) I had to pay in full for all of the emergency services before they would even touch her.

Best price. Spot on diagnosis. Dr Anthony.

Kellie Jones this was also several years ago (5 or 6 maybe) but it really traumatized me for future vet visits. We stopped taking our dogs to the vet at all for about 3 years. We were eventually forced to take them somewhere to get spayed and to have some hematomas removed for one pups ears. That's when we found ACT in Tampa. I've never met people who were so passionate about animals. Dr. Elwood also fixed a cherry eye on our cocker that Care Animal told me wasn't fixable. 2 years later and the cherry eye still hasn't come back.

I take my dog and 2 cats to Care Animal Hospital and have for years. I wouldn't take them anywhere else. They were wonderful when my daughter's cat was very ill, I have taken wildlife there for free treatment, and Doc Kane and all of his staff are tremendous and caring vets.

We see Dr. Ellwood at the Animal Coalition of Tampa off of Kennedy. They are amazing and really love the animals. I can also recommend the Animal Clinic at Southside off 39 and they are great too (and closer). ACT:813.250.3900 and SOUTHSIDE: 813.707.0520

We did the same as Kimberly for 6 years no one ever complained or noticed (held us over until the shrubs came in). We have Mexican heather (grows and spreads fast), jasmine (takes a bit but covered our entire back fence and is beautiful in bloom, check the type of jasmine some is poisonous to animals other types are perfectly safe), we have one other hedge but I can't remember the name. So sorry to hear about your Bullmastiff puppy. Not close, but excellent with large breed Dr. Christy Layton Timberlane Pet Hospital and resort plant city. We take our bullmastiff's there along with many other's bullmastiffs in Rescue and she has also worked a ton with PitBull rescues. Has close contacts with Pearl and many specialists. On a side note a great informative facebook page for any Bullmastiff question: training, behaviors, medical, food etc.. is American Bullmastiff Association Rescue Service https://www.facebook.com/groups/54341554367/ even though yours may not be a rescue the page is great with tons of information:-) Wishing you little guy gets better soon!

I cannot say enough good things about Boyette Animal Hospital. Our dog has had several issues recently and they have been great. Not only did they provide great care there but Dr. Bob also called to check on her personally and discuss further plan of care. I completely trust them with our dogs care!

Valrico Animal Clinic is a brand new large facility facility with a very good vet. It seems top of the line I really like their office its off Lithia Pinecrest

Care animal hospital. We adopted a mixed breed from the pound last year and our dog almost died on us. Not only did Care nurse her back to health, but Dr. Whitaker personally called us every day for a week to make sure Bailey was recovering.

Meadowrun Animal Hospital (off of Lithia Pinecrest just past Lumsden) is a great choice. Dr. Fishbach is a great vet and the prices are VERY reasonable. We've been very pleased taking both of our cats there.

We really like Dr. Duvall at Bloomingdale (in with Dr. Buck). We have 4 dogs. For our fosters (we have 2 of those) we use Bell Shoals Animal Hospital (Dr. Ligouri [sp?]). He's really good and generous with his time & money for the animals in need of homes.

Brandon Lakes Animal Hospital!!!! Dr. Woodside is the absolute best and his staff can't be beat. They explain everything and bend over backwards to help you in anyway they can. They work with every budget and are very thorough and great hearts. Love them there!!

I 2 nd Dr. Buck at the Bloomingdale clinic next to Chili's on Lithia Pinecrest... He is our neighbor here in Fishhawk and has been our vet for five years now..... Great guy, really cares about the animals and reasonably priced. Definitely will work out payment arrangements for more serious things like surgery...

Ive used pretty much every vet in the area. Valrico animal clinic is the one I use for my personal pets in the area. New facility. Fishhawk residents. Decent prices. The best low cost facility is the humane society clinic in Tampa. Ive used them often for rescues. Act is another low cost clinic I've used for for rescues but wouldnt be my first choice. Long waits too often. Alafia river animal hospital here locally has fair pricing on a lot of things too. VcF has been the most expensive one by a long shot and I do not recommend them at all. Ive used Dr. Anthony the mobile vet as well and he has great spay/neuter pricing but wouldnt use him for annual wellness exams personally. Feel free to PM me. I utilize vets very often.

There is a mobile vaccination clinic that stops at the auto parts store down Boyette every few weeks. They have very affordable vaccinations. http://www.nationalpetvax.com/. I've tried almost all the vets in the area and I liked Alafia River Animal Hospital and Boyette Animal Hospital, but my favorite by far is Valrico Animal Clinic just up Lithia Pinecrest. They have been amazing with my 13 year old dog who is in her last stages of her life. She was boarded with them over Thanksgiving break and honestly, I didn't think she'd make it, but they took amazing care of her and she is sitting here with me right now.

Dr. Katie and Dr. Anna at VCF Fishhawk are awesome. Sometimes you can't put a price on quality care for our fur children! Our boxer had a cancerous tumor on his jaw a year ago. Dr. Katie referred us to an amazing (extremely reasonable) orthopedic surgeon and I believe that is why Jake is still with us today.
