I would recommend the children centers, Jessops,Rosendale, Effra & Treehouse, they are free and offer everything from breastfeeding support, baby massage, first aid, stay & play & wriggle & rhyme. There is also Gymboree but haven't been so not sure if its any good. 'Bea's music bop' at The Florence is good once baby is a bit bigger, whippersnappers is at the lido (not been so not sure what its like) and when baby is a toddler there is toddler yoga at the lido which is really lovely and good fun and would def recommend. Hope that helps.

A doula is the one thing the nhs won't recommend, because heaven forbid women should have the birth they deserve, with the respect they deserve and with the help they most certainly need. Well done Mothercare for fuelling the small mindedness of Briti sh parents, too blinded by the 'let's see birth as a medical emergency' attitude to see that it could be all so different! Doulas are available for all regardless of class, ethnicity or wealth. Whether you have a vaginal birth or a c section, she'll be with you every step of the way.
