My German Shepherd tore her CCL (vet said it was completely ruptured) and I was able to rehab her back to 100% using conservative management (8 weeks rest followed by slow rehab). Check out the Yahoo Group Conservative Management: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/ConservativeManagement/

Had a german shepherd tear her Achille's tendon years ago and she received excellent treatment at All Care. Pricey, but with that kind of surgery, you probably won't find many discounts anyway.

There are no top canine orthos in the area. I know because I had a back surgery (disc reconfig) done on my dearly loved English Setter. There is an excellent ortho in Burbank (actually, a group and they are excellent) and I hear Santa Ana has one. My vet is at Long Beach Animal Clinic and he and I both researched this like crazy when she needed the surgery. I will be glad to get names and numbers if like and pass them in a private message. The pricing is not unreasonable but we had to have an MRI done first and they have to be put under for that or they move. The $$$$ do add up. Hermosa Beach at a great clinic that was expanding but you want an ortho specialist. They know how to guide you on the recovery which can be hard.

I don't think Dr. Grant can do that big of a surgery (he couldn't do Ruperts elbows, they sent me to Dr. Cambridge) I highly recommend him ... I was able to get the rescue discount thanks to a rescue helping me and he could have still nickle and dimed me but both of his surgeries came back at the low end, and his elbows actually came back under the low end... they are so nice there and took such good care of Rupert
