Shot in the dark, but does anybody know of any trans-friendly tailors in the area? My SO is having a hard time finding a tailor who understands what they're looking for...
Zode replied:
I don't know if she could help for sure, but try [Merry's](http://www.merrys.biz/). She is amazing, and very LGBT-friendly. I have a feeling she would know some good trans-friendly resources.
Raven-Mapleson replied:
We have our transgender support group every Thursday at 7 pm at The Center on 4 th St. I'm sure someone there would know.
BigBassBone replied:
You could ask at the Out of the Closet thrift store on PCH.
tangledsciencebitch replied:
Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but Sharpe Suiting is run by queer and trans* folk, for such folk. Would link to them, but I'm posting from my phone. Either way, good luck! :)
Hedryn replied:
You should check out The Academy near 1 st and Linden. They're a tailor/clothing shop and do good work. Young company and I'm sure they're trans-friendly.

This is long beach...I feel like anywhere on broadway or second st and you are golden. Or go to hamburger mary's downtown, they have drag shows all the time, they would know.
nabbalicious replied:
I am so sorry you're even having to ask this question. If you're comfortable, share who the rude tailors are so I can boycott jackasses. Other than that, I have nothing. I go to a place on Broadway near Gallagher's...very nice woman, and I hope it isn't her! Other than that, asking those in the trans community where they get their tailoring done might also be useful. Good luck!

Maybe Martha's tailoring on 7 th. She's a sweet older lady, can't imagine her being rude to anyone for any reason. She does tend to be pricier though...

Does anyone know where to get bow ties for bigger necks? I'm a 22 inch neck and I've just been paying a tailor to lengthen them but that's $15 a pop. I know of Beau ties...

Perfect Cleaners on Atlantic just before San Antonio. She can make anything!
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good tailor and dry cleaner? I don't have to use them often and I never know what a fair rate is. Thanks!
Greta H. replied:
I use national cleaners on cherry just south of wardlow. No complaints and they are reasonably priced. Plus there are coupons on their website. http://www.national-cleaners.com/3304_cherry_ave/coupons.cfm
Lily M. replied:
Willow Cleaners nearly ruined a dress I gave them to dry clean. While the dress did have some known discoloration, they used that to claim that all the damage they did was also pre-existing. Perhaps most annoying the dress featured a heavily pleated skirt. They only pressed the first four inches of pleats leaving the rest for me to have to do at home.
Laura B. replied:
Willow and Magnolia. She does great alterations for a good price.
Veronica O. replied:
Thanks everyone. I've been using Willow Cleaners, luckily no mishaps yet, because they are super nice, take credit cards and give you a 20% discount if you pay when you drop off your items but it felt expensive. I will check out your tailor Laura. What is her name?
Fritz P. replied:
Willow Cleaners for dry cleaning and the woman on Magnolia and Willow for alterations. Willow Cleaners takes cards now, the alteration lady does not.
