Jeff Dalhamer with Jeff's Painting and Handyman Service has installed lots of flooring. Home Depot has a true hardwood Bamboo and it's as affordable as laminate and it hold up well. Bamboo is grown in water so if water is spilled etc it absorbs the water and will not swell like other hard wood floors. If you are interested in getting a quote call him, he does amazing work a real perfectionist. Call 407-432-2142 for Jeff or 407-432-0081 for me I can send pictures and give you references.

We went through all the flooring research a while ago and found the local places pretty expensive. The customer service was pretty hit or miss too (you'd expect better from mom and pop places). We ended up buying it and having it installed by Lowes (who uses local contractors for installation). Ended up with the same quality materials as the other local places we quoted but much cheaper. They did a good job on ours, and one of the Lowes managers even drove materials to our house on install day that were damaged in the shipping box. The install manager called me the next day to check and see how everything worked out. We were really happy with how it turned out. One of the factors that can make a difference from store location to location are the quality of the sales people (some of them at the big box stores don't know anything, but usually you can ask around for who the good ones are). The other factor that can make a huge difference is what sales are going on, and what discounts are applicable. There was one installation sales lady at one of the local Lowes who was absolutely excellent, and she helped us get our blinds installed too (that turned out great as well). She walked us through discounts she was aware of, and in one case, hinted that we might wait a few weeks as an upcoming sale would save us a lot of money for a better product than what we initially considered for window coverings.

Twenty floor 7 did a great job on ours and they worked super long hours and like 8 days straight until all the work was done. Removing old floors, large house, re did our stairs and refaced a fireplace.
