I need a dermatologist but I can not wait until Jan 2015 to get an appt. Anyone know of a Dr. in town that deals with these issues or if not how about any...
Sally C. replied:
The practice here is trying to recruit another dermatologist to take over and let Dr. Thomsen retire, but until they do, I'm glad I don't have an urgent skin problem. I agree that Linda Taylor, PA, is also knowledgeable about skin issues.
Ann L. replied:
I used to go to Dr. Glass when I lived in ABQ. Very, very good. Here is the web-site http://www.westerndermatology.com/staff.htm According to the site, you can request appts online. I'm sure all of the doctors in the practice are good.
Terri B. replied:
My husband tried a derm in ABQ because he was the only one that had an appointment in less than 5 mo. SF Derms were 9 mo! He was not happy at all about the ABQ guy... He finally got in here in town and was happy with her.
Mary H. replied:
Try Linda Taylor at MANNM. She is a PA but did a complete skin check for me. Really nice and thorough.
Joanne K. replied:
I saw Monique Beyerle. she is a PA. she is at LA medical clinic (???0 not sure of the name. the one in the hospital to the right when you walk in. she deals with derm stuff. There is only one derm in town now because of the two, only one is taking new patients. ridiculous wait yes.
Sarah H. replied:
I broke down and went to one in Abq because of the wait times. Dr. Cary in Abq only took 3 months to get in versus 6+ fir LA and SF
Ann L. replied:
Celia BrowneThanks for the boost of confidence. Dr. Glass was great dermatologist. She spotted a Melanoma on my brother. She was very thorough in checking me for bad spots. When you are a product of the 60's, it was sun, sun, sun!
Paula G. replied:
Depending on the issue, you could see Cathy Lamkins-Dye at Oasis Skin Center. Cathy's an Aesthetician and located in WR.
Debbie M. replied:
If someone local can't see you- outside recommendations are fine. The rules are flexible. The PAs Monique and Linda are good at checking, freezing, and getting lab tests on anything questionable. Someone also got an appt faster with Auerbach in SF. Dr Thomsen has been booked solid for years...
Stephanie R. replied:
My suggestion is see your primary dr if they see it as urgent they can call the dermatologist and speak to her about getting you in sooner. Monique Beyerle is also in that office (Los Alamos Medical Care Clinic662-4351) and see urgent Derm issues as well and can triage for the dermatologist making your wait a little less.
Cathy L. replied:
Thank you for your recommendation Paula McCarty Glover-I am honored! I also spent way too much time in the sun in the 60's & 70's plus have a family history full of skin cancer so regularly see a Derm for a skin check. I agree with others-if you have an urgent medical concern, contact your primary care or PA. If they can't help you, they can usually get you into the Derm Much sooner. As Paula indicated, I am a board certified aesthetician and founder of Oasis Skin Center. I would not attempt to diagnose or treat a medical condition but there are things you can do to help your skin/body heal & repair past sun damage, reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and hyper pigmentation. If I can help anyone I would love the opportunity to earn your trust and business! Please feel free to call me at 505-470-7123.
Looking for a dermatologist in the area. Thank you.
Sy S. replied:
Lori Whitley, she's great
Ali R. replied:
I think I already messaged you this info, but for anyone else who might be interested. The wait for Dr. Whitley was extremely long and I found a fantastic dermatologist named Dr. Laurie Good, who has an office in Taos and Santa Fe. The name of her office is High Road Dermatology - http://highroaddermatology.org.
Julie W. replied:
Last time I looked you needed a referral to see Dr Whitley.
Martha K. replied:
Most dermatologists in the area have long waits. I like Dr. Whitley very much.
Sy S. replied:
When I called Dr Whitley's office in October for an appointment they were scheduling 4 or 6 months our, but I asked to be put on the cancellation list and ended up seeing her within a couple of weeks. Her office is really good about that.
I like Dr Whitley. Be aware, there is a very very long wait for new patients. I think that is typical of dermatologists in general not just here.
Ali R. replied:
As other people have already mentioned, the wait for Dr. Whitley was extremely long but I found a fantastic dermatologist named Dr. Laurie Good, who has an office in Taos and Santa Fe. The name of her office is High Road Dermatology - http://highroaddermatology.org.
Esther W. replied:
Monique Beyerle is the PA and is very good. You can usually get in to see her much quicker than Dr. Whitley.
Ellen M. replied:
My daughter sees Linda Taylor at MANNM. She is a PA, used to work for a dermatologist. Her wait time can be long too; she is in the walk-in clinic from 8 to 9 a.m. on Fridays.
Unless you want to wait a long time, better check Espanola or Santa Fe. Dr. Thomsen is retiring, and Dr. Whitley is booked up for a long time. Even my appointment for next fall is with a PA, since they haven't found another dermatologist to come to Los Alamos.
Peg H. replied:
Dr. Laurie Good at High Road Dermatology. She's from Taos but I've heard she works in SF also. 1651 Galisteo #5 505-983-0286
Ali R. replied:
Yes. It was an extremely long wait for Dr. Whitley and I found Dr. Laurie Good who was just opening up her SF office right then. She was absolutely wonderful.
LAMCC has Dr Whitley, but for a more timely appointment, they also have a couple of physician's assistants who specialize in dermatology. My kids see Monique Beyerle, and there is also Eric Krinsky. Of course, it it is more than they can deal with, they consult with Dr Whitley right away. Any appointment will be several months out, though.
I feel like I post this every few days! Linda Taylor is a PA at MANNM and used to work for a dermatologist. She is in their walk in clinic on Friday mornings from 8 to 9.
