Any recommendations for a good ophthalmologist in the area that accepts the lab insurance? I'm willing to travel as far as SF.
Miranda W. replied:
Eye Associates is good, although they do not take lab insurance, but are considered a "specialist" so it's a $45 co-pay...

For future reference, this forum is about Los Alamos businesses. There is another group for world-wide medical info. https://www.facebook.com/groups/691139827572805/
Best eye doctor in town that specifically takes the Labs VSP vision insurance and has a good selection of frames and products? Thanks!

Lisa Shin, O.D.

I've had several problems with Atomic over the last couple of years. Orders never placed to their suppliers and the wrong prescription when the lenses do come in. I thought Eye Associates took VSP.
Sharyl H. replied:
Lisa Shin and her team are excellent !
Mike L. replied:
Don't know about your VSP plan but Tim Johnson and company are the best in my opinion.....Eye Associates of New Mexico. You should call them and see if VSP vision works there. If they take your plan you should give them a try.....you won't be disappointed.
Katie W. replied:
We use Lisa Shin
Lori E. replied:
I'm gonna say, Lisa Shin also!
Debbie M. replied:
VSP is out of plan for Eye Associates. There is some coverage, but you file your own paperwork.
Dr. Bratton is still at Eye Associates in Los Alamos. My daughter has a chronic eye condition and sees Dr. Bratton regularly.
Jim R. replied:
I've been seeing Dr. Bratton for more than a decade now. I would never consider seeing anyone else.
Margaret G. replied:
My husband also sees Dr. Bratton, and he is very happy with her. And he needs an ophthalmologist. I don't see her because she doesn't do contacts.
Kay B. replied:
Dr. Shin and she is behind Daniel's Cafe
Wendy H. replied:
Roxann is correct, but Dr. Shin can take care of many things and give a referral to an opthalmologist if needed.
Michelle A. replied:
Eye Associates - Dr. Tim Johnson!
Jamie A. replied:
Tim Johnson is also an optometrist, although our family had a wonderful experience with him. When we were looking for one, there was only one opthalmologist in town, but I can't remember her name. She's in the office with Dr. Johnson.
Joanna C. replied:
Dr. Angela Bratton used to practice out of Los Alamos, but it doesn't look like she still is.
Peg H. replied:
Last week I had the most comprehensive and complete eye exam I have ever had at Dr. Lisa Shin's office. Not only that, but April, her technician, spent considerable time pricing my frames and lens for me to make sure they were not too heavy for my poor broken nose! Anxiously awaiting their arrival. Same floor as Daniel's.
Recommendations for a local eye doctor? My Dr in SF can no longer accomodate our family so time to move closer to home.
Emily T. replied:
I hear good things about Dr. Shin.
Angie P. replied:
I really like Dr. Lisa Shin. She's awesome.
Paula G. replied:
I like Dr Shin as well.

Delaney R. replied:
Another vote for Dr. Shin, we see her and she is great with the kiddos.
Lori E. replied:
I'll just throw this out there.....we love Dr. Shin!
Karen L. replied:
We have been to both and love Orbit/Atomic Eye Care. They are great with the girls and are good about family appointments. They caught a potentially devastating disease in Cam's eyes on her first visit at 4 years old.
Eye doctor recommendations? In Los Alamos preferably.

I really like Dr. Lisa Shinn. I was having a ton of issues with my last prescription written by a doctor in santa fe, and she helped me fix all my issues and my eyes are so happy now.
