Picture framing is EXPENSIVE. Here's what I do. Peruse thrift stores. There are usually tons of pictures for next to nothing. Often they have frames that would cost hundreds of dollars. Toss the pic. Profit.

I take my frames to Ballard's on Sunset in Echo Park. Really like the personality of the guy, and his prices aren't bad. Last time I went I got 3 pretty big walnut frames w/ museum glass and a great matte job for just under $500. Beautiful job, but as others have said, framing is never cheap.
Can you guys please recommend a custom framing store in the area? Looking for great quality, helpful staff and reasonable pricing. TIA

I went to Aaron Brothers and all I wanted was a mat for a painting I bought at a flea market which needed to be re-matted and the price was ridiculous. Then I found West End Framing on Sherman Way. They were not only very nice and did a great job, but it was half the price.
