I see Eloise Campbell at diabetes clinical services she is an nurse practitioner who specializes in diabetes and is also a diabetic. She is great my hba1 c was over 11 and now it is below 7 is less than a year. They are great teach you about diabetes and get you on the right path

I can only say from my own experience how great Dr. Self was to me in this last year. I could not get any doctors to help me with my thyroid and when I finally saw her she spent an hour with me going over everything in my family history and has finally got my thyroid under control that I can function. But She not only cared about my thyroid but everything else too. Like I said I wished I could find an internist as good as her, but I know everyone has different experiences. I will say though her assistants are slow to get back to you. I have also heard good things about Dr. Williams in her office too.

Dr. John Holt in elizabethtown in an awesome cardiologist. That is who my mom sees. His number is 270) 765-5921.

Try Vazdev Lohano for an Endo and go from there? Once you have your endocrine system being treated it's easier to treat the FM pain. They are right, Rheums don't treat FM but they should be ruling out other factors first so you know if you're truly dealing with FM. A PCP is a good idea so they can get you started on proper maintenance for all other symptoms aside from centralized pain (if they don't treat it). Typically, though, you will be seeing a pain management specialist for FM pain though. Can try Murphy Pain Clinic? Each person is different and see a slew of physicians for various reasons for FM, none seem to be exactly the same... Regardless, a good starter is a team of: PCP, psychiatrist, rheumatologist, physical therapist, nutritionist, massage therapist for TrPs and sometime pain management.

Thanks Sabrina. I do have pain symptoms, but my biggest issue is energy. I also have CFIDS, which I must have left off on my post! I got transferred from the main line to the Norton Pain Management office with Louie Williams, but was told they require referrals from a PCP. I'll look into Murphy. Thanks! Also, I should say that I'm willing to travel beyond Louisville for an appointment just to get the ball rolling. I'm on spring break this week and am trying to get in somewhere ASAP as it's hard to take off from teaching. I've been living with this for 13 years and have run the gamut with treatment. I've just never had this much trouble establishing care anywhere.

Katharina, I just wanted to follow up and say that I loved Dr. Shams. I have a follow up in a month, she was very receptive to getting me on medication, and she didn't rush through the appointment. They actually got me in so quickly that I didn't have time to finish my paperwork before we started. Anyway, thanks again. I'm really glad to have a new person so open.

Amanda Abel I am so glad you found someone. I moved to Louisville from Salt Lake City and it has been extremely difficult to have my fibro treated. Many many many times I wanted to run back to my PCP in Salt Lake and cry. We are in one of the worse areas for fibro!! Katharina Walker Ray thank you for your post. I also have an appointment with Dr. Shams! I just lost another doctor. If you need help Amanda please let me know.

I'm so glad I just read this post!! I have had the week from hell with docs and have been so stressed. I was just starting to establish a relationship with my PCP for treatment of pretty much everything except pain and get a call from his office that he has up and left with no info where he has gone. So now I have to find a new doc so I think I might try Dr. Shams too. But just an FYI Amanda if you are still going to look into Murphy Pain Center they do require a referral and it takes weeks to just get a call back for an appt and then another month for an initial consult with the doctor's assistant or nurse practitioner or something that is not the doctor yet. I'm in the process now of becoming a patient there. My initial consult is Tuesday. My referral was first done early Feb.

Dr. Louie is great but also requires a referral. Nicki Parker Baker were you going to Physicians Primary Care in Jeffersonville by chance? Also Dr. Reasor who used to treat my fibro has joined a pain management group. He is really good and has treated my hubby for back pain for several years. I will find his new group and number and post it here.

No Vicki I was seeing Dr. Lach at Norton Community Medical. I had been seeing him for almost a year and was finally starting to make lead way at getting him to really listen and understand me so it's really frustrating. I have seen Dr. Williams as well but he said there was anything he could really do for me. He was really caring and compassionate about it though and took a lot of time to explain why and I completely understood.

Same experience I had with Dr. Williams.

After seeing a rheumatologist and infectious disease specialists, I was told to go to Mayo or Cleveland Clinic. I had a friend that went to Cleveland and had a great experience with a rheumatologist, Dr. Yao. I got in to see him (as a new patient, no referral needed) with in 5 weeks from requesting an appointment (you can do this online or by phone). TOTALLY worth the travel. I'm so glad I went to Cleveland! Currently my PCP manages my fibro and chronic fatigue. I've been seeing a massage therapist who specializes in trigger point therapy weekly for 3 years now and she has drastically reduced my pain and has taught me self-treatment skills to manage pain. Where would you like your PCP to be located? Do you need them to be in the Norton system? My PCP is in the Baptist system, but I see Dr Louie Williams for Pain Mgt. Dr Williams has been such a good doc for me, thankful to have him.

Hi Katharina I don't need them to be affiliated with anything. Just need a decent doc that I can see preferably this month. All the Norton docs are booked through May. Mostly I need an internist or PCP before anything because I can't get in to specialists without a referral, including Dr. Williams. And that's not my insurance policy, it's norton's policy.

My PCP is very sympathetic about fibro. Her name is Mitra Shams. She is an internist at Baptist Medical Associates Prospect. I don't know if the location is convenient for you, but the office is well-run and she is a good doc. She is soft-spoken, and may take a bit of time to get to know, but she works hard on behalf of her patients to get them what they need. For me, a doctor who listens and advocates for me is really important, and I'm happy with her.

If you call her office, be sure to tell them that I referred you to her. If you see her and ask for a referral to Dr. Williams, remind her that he's the pain mgt doc I see.

Oh my goodness. Katharina, I have been at a point of desperation and have called so many doctor's offices the last few weeks with no luck, and I just made an appointment with Dr. Shams for tomorrow! I really appreciate the rec and will pass on your name.

Dr. Betty Villafuerte at UofL endocrinology. She turned my diabetes around fast. She’s not like other doctors that put you on a pill for every little thing. She checks your vitamins in your body and balances them if they need to be.

Haha...Dr. Barth is his provider now. Apparently Dr, Barth told my patient that since my patient couldn't get blood sugars under control that he would no longer be my patient's Dr.
