Dear Madisonians, I need a new pair of glasses. Do you have a favorite vendor/optometrist here in town that you like? I'd rather do local. I've heard mixed reviews about...

we have been going to Dr. Callie Enyart for many years. She has graciously done eye exams for all the kids that come from the CHernobyl area of Ukraine - every year since 2000 (except 2 years) -- her office is off Monona Drive. (she also is a LUther grad!) tele 608.223.0202

Madison-area friends, anyone have recommendations for an optometrist they really like, especially someone who's good with contacts?
Leah D. replied:
I don't wear contacts, so I don't know about that part, but I like Dr. Valerie VandenBoom at Eye Contact on Mineral Point.
Lisa M. replied:
Dr. Emmerich at Target in Fitchburg. He's really great and I have really tough eyes.

Dave Emmerich at Target in Fitchburg
Lisa M. replied:
I went to John BV for years as well. I eventually was turned off by his strong-arm sell tactics. Dave Emmerich is Bonsett-Veal but without the scary sell tactics. And, he's anything but odd.
Tammy M. replied:
Kelsey Barnes at GHC Fitchburg is an excellent optometrist, particularly with contacts.
Ellen B. replied:
I've seen John Bonsett-Veal for many years. Kind of an odd duck but good.
Samara K. replied:
Mike Morgenthaler at Madison Optometric on State. He's one of those elusive State Journal readers! You'll like him!
Samara K. replied:
John Bonsett-Veal is too odd a duck IMHO. ;)

Hello friends, Does anyone know of a good optometrist around the Madison/Milwaukee Wisconsin area? I used to go to the pediatric optometrists in Madison at the medical...
Joni V. replied:
If you are looking for an optometrist (as opposed to an ophthalmologist) I would recommend Dr. Heather Hinson of Hinson Family Vision. Don't be put off that their practices are located in Wal-Mart, she is also a low vision specialist who does the low vision exams at Vision Forward (formerly Badger Association) here in Milwwaukee. As a bonus, her husband Doug is also an optometrist, he specializes in contacts, especially hard to fit contacts. They will go the extra mile for you! I see them at the Wal-Mart on 27 th street, it is actually in Franklin. I can look up the phone number for you if you want. Phillip Mason knows them, too.
Melanie S. replied:
If you are able...Dr. Bradfiled at UW health Madison is good. My daughter sees her.
Next Wednesday will start my week and a half back home in Hartford and I have Chiropractor, Dentist, and Optometrist appointments all in one day. WOO. It'll be a good...
