This was exactly our problem with our puppy. Now she has a 100% recall even in the highest distraction areas (dog parks etc) Jeff at Sit Happens is who made it happen! He spends one on one time with you and your dog, and then after that is done, you get to go to the classes.

We used Sit Happens too and I would highly recommend them! They come to you and do one on one training until you and your dog have the basic commands down and then you can join group sessions whenever you want. You can also go back anytime you feel that you need a "brush up". It's pricy but it works and it's for the life of your dog so anytime you have issues you can call them or go to a session and they'll help you out.

Sit Happens has been amazing for us!! His focus is off leash training. Super happy with our Shepherd, she is 1.5. She learned come in 1 session with him.
So this is one of those embarrassing dog mom posts, I know the owner has to be trained more than the dog themself but my dog has dominance issues, and I am wondering if...

We went to several "trainers" who all taught the same stuff. Spent months of weekend "training". For our guy positive reinforcement treat training was nothing but a waste of time and money. Dogs are smart and our guy figured out that anytime he was reactive towards other dogs he'd get a face full of treats to try and distract him. Needless to say he became even more reactive to the point we couldn't take him to any park where there were other dogs. We spent thousands before we found Dean Audett from the great Canadian dog academy. There was an instant change with our dog after the first class and the first class you don't even bring your dog! Dean trains you, not the dog. With Dean's "cowboy method" you learn to be the master. He's not cheap by any means but after spending thousands on trainers who think you can cure any problem with treats, Dean was actually pretty cheap. Is our dog 100% cured? No, and he might never be but he's a completely different dog, we can take him to parks again and have him walk 4 feet from another dog without getting reactive... Unless someone has their dog off leash and charges us he doesn't even care and should that happen we now have the tools to correct him and move out of the situation.
Anyone have recommendations on good dog trainers for group classes?

I actually posted this exact question a couple of weeks ago and got no response, I contacted a few places to get some ideas and so far Dapper Dog in Poco gave me the best response
