These are engineering based, which is what my kids who like to take things apart, like to do, one is in ME at UW now: https://www.parentmap.com/article/stem-summer-camps-for-seattle-kids
Lisa M. replied:
And take him to garage sales on the weekend, you can usually find cheap things he could take apart. My kids like to buy robot kits also like https://www.amazon.com/4M-3653-Tin-Can-Robot/dp/B0014WO96Y/
Gary A. replied:
Take him to Re-PC in Tukwilia. Also there a bunch of subscription boxes like Tinker Crate for mechanical type stuff kiwicrate.com or littlepassports.com for science experiments.

I have a Shodan black belt in Cuong Nhu Karate at Fairwoodmartialarts.com.. great kids program. I was there for 12 years, great self defense, good kids program. Now I'm at Lee's Martial Arts, they have a school in Renton and also by Taco Time in Maple Valley. VERY GOOD schools. Both have excellent kid's programs, around same price. Karate is more hands on self defense, Taekwondo is more conditioning, kicking. Just depends on what your kid likes. Karate has self defense, forms, grappling, sparring, little ninjas. Taekwondo is also a lot of fun for kids. Very good conditioning with kicks and punches. Try all the schools, see which instructors you like, your kid likes.

Nancy Maltby Henkel and her husband own a martial arts studio.. they taught karate for the younger kids at Sports Camp. Nancy, can you post the info for your studio? (Lisa Lagle Wood do you have the info readily available? )

What you need to avoid are State Parks in summer. They work on the reservation system. Instead, look at National Park campgrounds that have first come, first serve. Such as Ohanapecosh in Rainier - and if you can, go up a day early to score a site. Or White River at Rainier.
