The Painted Lady in Newberg is a great food experience. I think everyone should try it. The service is amazing and then you get to eat the food.

Tonight I found out the shift manager Jim Sebree at Izzy's (where Shakey's was located) is the grandson of Alf himself. Felt privileged to speak with him - sort of McMinnville food royalty.:)

Katherine, oh that's right, the Blue Moon has been in business longer.:) Amazing these two places are still really popular too. Any idea how long the Deluxe has been going? It too must be longer than Alf's, back into the 1930 s maybe longer? It was in a building that stood where Timmreck & McNicol Jewelers is now. The Cabana Club under a series of different names also seems to go way back until at least the 1940 s.

Dave and Betty owned and operated the Rue Cafe. They served delicious food. They were located next door to the Cooperative food store and the near the Deluxe Tavern. My sister used to work there when she was in high school.
