Conover Electric's "Tip of the Day" Handymen are great at a lot of projects but if they are not licensed for the specific thing they are fixing like electrical and plumbing and your home floods from a bad plumbing job or burns down from bad electrical work and it's found that a handyman unlicensed for that specific job your insurance might refuse your claim. Just FYI
Can anyone recommend a good plumber and electrician that does small residential jobs?

Just get the ring battery doorbell instead. Not worth the hassle, as you’ll have to put in a transformer in addition to the wiring.
eightbitagent replied:
Even if you don’t want a ring, get a traditional wireless one. Program it, mount one on the door and one in the house, done!

As an electrician, your way better off getting a wireless one and just charging the batteries every few months, in most situation it’s a pain to get the wire to the front door and the chime and the transformer without some sort of Sheetrock removal depending on the situation. I would just save the 500$ and buy a wireless one!

First Call Electric. He’s a one man operation. He’s done a bunch of work with our house. He’s pretty reasonable and we trust him to work unsupervised in our house but adding a hardwire doorbell was easily the most expensive single thing he has done for us. I don’t remember the exact cost but it was several hundred dollars and required cutting a hole in the wall next to the front door.
