Ah! A nice classy evening on the town. Only the finest for a celebration of another year around the sun. Here is my recipe for a fantastic evening of posh and class.
1. Start with a few cocktails before dinner. Rock Falls Tavern on the southside has an extensive cocktail and drink program. Paired with an atmosphere that screams "1992" I don't think you could go wrong.
2. Hop on your Bolt or Bird scooter and take the leisurely ride down Forest Hill Avenue and you'll find yourself at what I can only describe as an oasis in the desert. The Forest will hit the spot. Make sure to ask about their tasting menu.
3. After dinner head over to Chez Locker Room for a few after dinner cocktails and the best Dessert menu in town. From the crown molding to the restroom attendants your every need will be met and exceeded.

I like eating out but don't do it enough. Here are my stream of consciousness thoughts.
I agree with the Buckhead's suggestion (or Lemaire (a must at least once) or Shagbark (my wife's favorite date night, mental note to make reservations) or Bistro Babette (just classic eating out) or Rappahanock (oysters/seafood/cocktail, yum) or Brenner Pass (great hamburger, believe it or not) or Mamma Zu (get a group or six or more and make a reservation and keep the wine flowing) or make a reservation for L'Opposum (my personal favorite) much sooner (I am going on Friday for a birthday dinner with friends that we set up Nov. 18 and I could only get 8:15.)) I have been to Bookbinder in Philly and here is not the same experience for some reason unknown to me. I was not impressed by Alewife.

Not the fanciest in the city but I will ALWAYS recommend Max's on Broad. Food is awesome, service is awesome and a real cozy but classy atmosphere. They have valet parking too! It's my go-to for special occasions.
